Too Much Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
I thought this was perfect. It was super easy and delicious even without a glaze. I used mini chocolate chips to avoid big chunks, and it worked out wonderfully. For those who complain it's too sweet or chocolatey, I don't know what else you expected from a cake with this title. I don't think it tasted like chemicals at all. I grew up on boxed cake mix and more often than not, I like it more than what I get in a bakery. It was everything I imagined it would be. I'll have dreams about this cake.

Chocolate Truffle Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2012
This tasted EXACTLY like a chocolate chip with the texture of a brownie. If you like dark chocolate, you'll probably love this, but I'm a milk chocolate fan and it was too much for me, even with whipped cream or ice cream. I'll probably end up giving it away.

Raspberry Blackberry Smoothie

Reviewed: May 31, 2011
Except for the blackberry seeds, this was a really good smoothie. I'm not a huge fan of just straight-up berries, but the banana and yogurt muffled the berries the exact right amount.

Best Ever Chocolate Cutout Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2011
I followed others' recommendations and added the vanilla and extra egg yolk. I rolled them out between two sheets of waxed paper, so I didn't need to use extra flour or cocoa powder. They taste really good, and my only complaint is that they break apart super-easy. I was planning to decorate them for friends and I've already lost three to breakage.

Ladyfingers

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2011
My first pan I piped into individual cookies, and they all turned out flat. For the second pan I decided if they were going to be flat I might as well just make it easy on myself and spread it on the pan. The second pan ended up nice and fluffy, if not as pretty. They smell and taste a bit eggy, but I'm using them in tiramisu like everyone else so I doubt it will be an issue.

Hot Breakfast Couscous

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2011
I went ahead and added more liquid due to the reviews, and it is good, but unlike couscous--more like very very thick oatmeal. The flavor is good, but I am a cinnamon lover and there's not enough of it!

Hazelnut Chocolate Chip Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2012
Except for the hazelnuts, which I didn't have, I followed the recipe exactly. These didn't turn out great for me, and not sure what I did wrong. They are a nice golden brown on top, but the insides are not completely done. There is also too much almond extract for my taste. I'll try them again, but use either less almond extract next time, or try vanilla instead. It gives me something good to work with.

Janine's Best Banana Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
I only had one banana and supplemented with milk to make 1 cup (hence the 4-star rating--I didn't follow the recipe exactly) but it is still delicious! Baked in a 9x5 loaf pan at 325 for 50 minutes and it's perfect. Firm crust but not crunchy or burnt, and delicious with some Nutella spread on top!

Fruit Dip I

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2012
I LOVE this. The first time I made it, I accidentally used a 1:1 ratio and found the cream cheese flavor too strong, and had to add confectioners sugar until it was sweet enough, but the second time I got it right and it's amazing. Sweet, creamy, and perfect with fresh, local strawberries.

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
I followed all of the directions but cut the recipe in half. I Pammed the cookie sheets quite thoroughly and most of the cookies came off with just a little twist, not even needing the spatula. Most of them look great, although the oil that was on my hands absorbed and dulled the sugar in some places. I had to put the bowl back in the freezer between batches because the dough was starting to stick to my hands quite a bit. They all crinkled just right and they taste quite a bit like brownies, which is fine by me! My parents love them. They're so easy to make, and I'll definitely be making them again.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2010
I halved the recipe, added one TABLESPOON of vanilla instead of a teaspoon, and used mini choc. chips instead of regular. I followed all directions, sifted when I was supposed to sift, stirred when directed, used hand mixer to blend. They came out wonderfully. They taste exactly the same as the standard Nestle recipe but they don't do the pancake thing and they stay nice and soft and almost kind of fluffy. This is our new standard recipe for chocolate chip cookies.

One Dish Rosemary Chicken and Rice Dinner

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2013
I followed all of the directions except I used chicken breast tenderloins. The chicken was good, but the rice ended up being too salty, although I did not add any salt to it. I might try it again, but I'd use low-sodium chicken broth instead. At least it was easy.

Pork Chops with Basil and Marsala

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2013
The only change I made was to bake the chops for only 30 minutes (instead of 45) before adding the wine, and they were fully cooked. I only used 2 pork chops since it's just my husband and me, but we both enjoyed them. They were juicy and tender, and overall very easy, if a little time-consuming.

Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2012
It was a little heavy on the spices for me. I didn't have 11 hours, but I stuck it on high for about 5 hours and the consistency was perfect. More like stew, really. The lentils were mushy, but I've never used them before. Hubs likes it okay. It's not a favorite of ours, but I'll probably try it again with some tweaking.
