Baked Potato Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2013
This recipe is amazing! I don't like traditional potato salad but love potatoes. I have made this without the bacon too, to please a vegetarian crowd and it's still just as good!

A very light and moist cake, one of the best from scratch I've made!

Aunt Millie's Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
My review may not be fair as I changed a few things. I used one cup of cottage cheese and half a cup of cheese whiz. Also, I used cream of onion soup. And I halved the topping. 198 cal. For an eighth, pretty good!

Fresh Asparagus Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2012
Delicious! I used skim milk as I didn't have soy and I used vanilla low fat yogurt as that was all I had. I'm going to try with broccoli next time!

Asparagus Quiche

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2012
I love asparagus and had a ton on hand I needed to use. I made some changes to better fit my diet. I didn't use a crust or bacon. I sprinkled some onion powder and garlic powder on the asparagus before adding the mix. I accidentally put the swiss in the egg mix but I don't think that made much of a difference. The biggest change I made aw that I used 1.5 cups of 4% small curd cottage cheese in place of the cream. This made 2 quiche and one eighth of each pie yields 50 calories! Yum!

Herb-Crusted Chuck Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
This was very good. I was afraid it might be tough, but it wasn't. I used a chuck roast. I think I may try panko crumbs next time as others suggested just for a difference in texture. Overall, very flavorful and the sauce compliments the meat very well!

Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2011
These are awesome! I accidentally messed up the recipe by adding the cinnamon to the flour mix so I didn't roll them in the cinnamon/sugar mix - but they came out so good! They are so soft! I don't really care that they "flattened" when they cooled. I had fresh cream of tartar so I don't know why they did that but it doesn't matter, they are so delicious!

Banana Flips

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
AMAZING!!! I made my own cake mix and added the pudding mix to it. I didn't have banana extract so I used vanilla butter nut that I usually only use at Christmas time. I am not sure why my sugar mixture didn't come out smooth since I used tub butter that was already softened. Maybe my shortening wasn't soft enough. Anyways, even though the filling was somewhat gritty (baker error I'm assuming) this was unbelievably good!

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
This is a wonderful recipe. I used the Yellow Cake directions but I added a package of instant banana pudding. I made to cakes out of it in order to make the Banana Flips I also found on this site.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies I

I made this recipe exactly as written except I added a couple teaspoons of vanilla because I love vanilla in almost everything I bake. They are delicious! My husband loved them and so did my 18 month old :)

Candied Kielbasa

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2011
Wow - this is amazing!! The only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because I made this to be a dinner meal and it really isn't something you make for dinner. If I had read the reviews first I would have realized it's more for a pot luck. But it is still very tasty and I usually like my kielbasa just fried...and burnt! But I served this with Hawaiian rolls and peas and it was a decent dinner.

Spiced Chicken Loaf

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2011
This was just ok - could have been better if not so dry. I put some ketchup and BBQ on top so that part was good. I also put them in my muffin pans to make individual servings. I think next time I will add more ketchup to the mix...

Italian Bow Tie Supper

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2010
Thanks for this idea! I used my own "meat sauce" recipe so it wasn't exactly as this recipe calls for, but I added the pasta (I didn't have bowtie so I used whatever I had), spinach and cheese - amazing! It seemed to dry out quickly though because I ate some and my husband didn't get to eat until a couple of hours later - still tasty - just a bit dryer.

Breakfast Burritos

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
I did as another person said and cooked everything in one pan. First the bacon, took it out, cooked the eggs. Then I added the bacon crumbled, beans, and cheese. I also put some pureed avacado in them. They are a pretty good twist for breakfast.

Chipotle Mayo

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
This is really good. It's also very hot! I added garlic and lime juice as others suggested and also put in a whole cup of mayo and it's still very hot. It's good and hope to use it on my new diet as it is low in calories when using light mayo.

This was pretty good. I would have never thought of putting sprouts with eggs. I think the recipe calls for too many of them but overall, this is a tasty recipe.

Baked Ziti III

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2009
This is the best pasta I've ever eaten! I was a little leery of baking sour cream, but it is so delicious! The only things I changed were I made my own sauce and I only used about 45 oz of it total, a little less than the recipe called for and it was plenty. This recipe does make alot so if you are only cooking for two you will have tons of leftovers for the freezer.

Garden Veggie Pizza Squares

I topped mine with broccoli and chopped carrots. this was delicious! Everyone loved it. Next time I think I will shred the carrots instead of chop them though as they were a bit hard to keep on the pieces. Excellent recipe!

I omitted the green pepper and only put in about half of a bottle of dressing. This was a huge hit at our BBQ.
