About this Cook
I am a single mom to a teenage son. I took a keen interest in cooking as a young girl. My Mother was my first inspiration. She was a wonderful cook. Nothing was ever out of a can or premade, fresh vegetables from our garden and the local butcher for meat and eggs and milk from the local dairy farm. To me all those meals are my comfort foods and I take pride in passing them on to my family.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking with fresh herbs, and vegetables. I am the garlic queen. Anything that calls for garlic, I'm in!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Prime Rib and yorkshire pudding! Always a traditional Birthday dinner for all family members.
My cooking triumphs
I love to cook and entertain. I catered a family members wedding gift opening brunch for 50 people. It was a great success and now it continues to be a request by family and friends.

Heavenly 'Apple of My Thigh' Dessert
I would rate this 10 stars if I could! Don't even bother adding the sugar called for in the recipe, I didn't and it was perfect. This has to be the easiest most yummiest appetizer I have ever made. Be sure to soak the apple slices in a bowl of cold water with about a tsp. of lemon juice to keep them from turning brown. Everyone loved this. You cannot stop at one. A guaranteed hit for sure! My new favourite. Thank you Kirsten!

Easiest, Most Delicious Meringue Buttercream
This really is the only icing recipe you will ever need. I just made this this afternoon and I can't believe how easy it is and how good it tastes. It is not overly sweet, and has a nice buttery taste. It holds it shape well and is very light and fluffy. I have searched for years for a perfect buttercream and now I have found it. I would highly recommend taking the advice of the "most helpful positive review" post(directly under recipe). I followed her advice and it came out perfect the very first time. Definately a keeper for me! Thanks for sharing

Lentil Soup with Lemon
This soup is so simple to make and the flavour is so good. I doubled the recipe and did not add the tomato paste and it was still yummy. I also omitted the olive oil drizzle just to save on added fat and calories. The fresh cilantro and lemon at the end is perfect. This is a favourite for sure! Thank you Jodi for sharing!
