I'm divorced and I have two beautiful little girls. We live in Iowa and enjoy the outdoors. We love to travel and cook! If I won the lottery, I would quit my job and travel the world, volunteering where help is needed. I would also get huge, because I'd be cooking all day:)
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything and everything! My favorites are pastas and casseroles. My friends suggested I make a cookbook, but I don't ever measure everything. I'd probably screw up the recipe if I slowed down and paid any attention to what I was making.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Things I make frequently with my dad: Stir Fry, Forgotten Chicken, Pork Chops in the slow cooker (these are the BEST), Overnight Buns, Creamed Corn, Scalloped Potatoes, Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup With my mom and step-dad: German Spaetzle, apple pie, crab cakes/salmon cakes on the sailboat, marzipan, salmon
My cooking triumphs
I'm fortunate enough to have been raised with a very diverse background. Some of my most memorable cooking triumphs happened while I was sailing either the Columbia River or the Pacific Ocean with my parent's Peterson 44'. We would often go crabbing, fishing and clamming. One night on Government Island we had arrived after dark and were famished. We set up a fire and cooked tri-tip with a make-shift rotisserie. A lot of sand ended up on it somehow, but we ate it like cavemen! It was a blast!
My cooking tragedies
Uwa! Behind every exquisite thing that existed, there was something tragic. Tragedy, for me, is not a conflict between right and wrong, but between two different kinds of right. Tis only a tragedy when one does not learn from a mistake.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast
Not spectacular. Made it twice--once as directed and it was too bland. Tripled the ingredients the next time and it was better.

Creamy Vegan Corn Chowder
oh em gee.....this is the BEST soup I've ever had in my entire life!! The ONLY alteration I made was to add 1/4 barley because I needed to use it up. My husband was very surprised when I told him it was all vegan--he's as much a carnivore as a T-REX!

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken
oh em gee!! This is SOOOO good. I didn't have any wine, so I omitted that but even then...holy ! Everyone LOVES it. My husband rated it a 10! He wanted me to make it the next night! Ingredients are kind of expensive where I'm at:( Oh well, it's too good not to make regularly. Thank God for P90X otherwise this would make me HUGE. :)
