I am almost 30 years old, and I can't cook! I do try. My goal is to become a great, homemade, from-scratch cook - just like my mom and my grandmothers. On a budget!!
My favorite things to cook
Steak, chicken, fish, fried foods, Southern foods, Basque food, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, breads, pies, breakfast foods, eggs, casseroles.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We cook Basque food and Southern food. Also down-home ranch-style food. A lot of tripe, bacalau (salted cod), tortilla de patata, fried potatoes with fresh-caught fish and eggs, brains and eggs (I don't like), blood sausage (I also don't like), pigs' feet, mountain oysters, heart, tongue, lamb fries, steak, beef beef BEEF, fried chicken, pies.
My cooking triumphs
I make awesome chicken chalupas casserole and one mean apple pie!
My cooking tragedies
I once set the floor on fire boiling water. Don't ask how - I don't even know. The actual pan itself melted, and there were liquid metal pieces burning into the kitchen floor . . . it was my fiance's first night at my house (we had just started dating), and I was attempting to cook him supper . . .
