Mamaw's Chicken and Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2014
This was a good basic recipe. I added french cut green beans and mild cheddar cheese to the top of it. Otherwise, I followed the recipe and it turned out great.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
It was too liquidy, so next time I wouldn't put as much salsa (or any) in it. It made the lettuce wilt and it became runny. Otherwise, it was a great recipe.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
I made the recipe as is, then added banana slices and pieces of fresh peach at the end. They were perfect and easy to make.

Ham with Pineapple

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
Well, I didn't buy any of the cherries, but then when I went to put the pineapple slices on the ham using the toothpick in the middle, the toothpicks got burned so I ended up taking those out completely and also ended up scorching on the pineapple slices. The ham glaze/ham was delicous, though. I used some cloves but probably didn't need as many as called for - I would spread them out more the 2nd time around. I would also make my "diamond" shaped knife cuts more attractive. It was very good.

Great-Grandmother Steinbeck's Johnnycake (Cornbread)

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
This cornbread was about as good as any other cornbread. We thought it was a bit crumbly but overall what you would expect from cornbread.

Pumpkin Cheese Bread I

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
This was a hit! I didn't put in the nuts because my father-in-law can't eat those. I also didn't have ground cloves so I left it out. It made a lot of bread and it wasn't too much pumpkin flavor..just right. Instead of using 2 loaf pans, I used one rectangular pan which was a lot! I will definitely be making this one again.

Cheesy Ham and Hash Brown Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
Wow, I was surprised to find out how much food this recipe made. It lasted SEVERAL meals. We used some diced up ham from the deli counter. It would also be good with any other breakfast meat (sausage, bacon). I put a little less sour cream and cheese than called for. My husband accidentally got only 1 can of cream of potato soup, so I used one can of that, and one can of cream of mushroom soup, and it was perfect. Next time I would make the whole recipe but split it into 2 dishes.

Gravy Baked Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
This was delicious - I didn't use any butter or water. I also didn't bake it--I put the ingredients into a crock pot and let it go to work. The pork was tender and falling apart and the gravy was perfect to serve with the pork chops and some mashed potatoes.

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
My husband is a picky eater, and he says this is the best pork chops he's ever had. I used butter instead of oil in the pan when I cooked the pork chops. I used walnuts instead of pecans in the sauce (didn't have any pecans on hand), and I chopped up the walnuts and half of one apple into pieces (diced the apple into bits). I also doubled the sauce as some others had done in the reviews and there was plenty. Quick & Easy.
