Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
Used this with Mother's cin. rolls, YUM! I think I used a bit more sugar and maybe a splash of milk b/c I made it a bit to thick to spread, and I tried a dash of vanilla, but I couldn't taste a difference. Next time will skip the vanilla.

Mother's Cinnamon Rolls

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
This is my new favorite roll recipe. I made this twice in one month, it was just that good. I did use cream cheese frosting, it is my favorite. I cut some thinner rolls and some larger and both were good. I subbed in splenda the second time into the bread, it was ok, but next time I think I will use half splenda and half regular sugar. The rolls still tasted good, I should have decreased the bake time and they would have turned out better. Now I know. Great as written, not bad with splenda.

Pizza Sauce I

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2010
I had a bunch of home grown tomatoes and I was tired of blts. This recipe was just what I was looking for. It made the best pizza with Jay's pizza crust. Mabe next summer I will try canning some for later. I just didn't have the time this year.

Pasta Con Broccoli

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
I love this recipe! I adjusted this slightly so that I could use what I had at home. I skipped the cream and used skim milk. To compensate for that I added a little flour to help thicken the sauce. I cook the broccoli with the pasta-I've tried many shapes and regular noodles. I prefer the spirals, it just has a better texture. Oh, and I think I use too much tomato sauce. I use the normal little can from Aldi's, I don't remember the exact size. It still tastes great! My husband doesn't like red sauce and I try not to eat too much of the white sauce. It is a great compromise.

Chewy Rolo Cookie Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 10, 2010
The best caramel brownie bar ever! This disappeared fater than anyother desert I have made for my DH. I bought a package of rolos thinking they were his fav. I was wrong, he doesn't even really like them. So, I was happy to try anything to use the bag. I made many changes so that I could use what I had at home. I had a chocolate cake mix and I didn't have any nuts and I used up all of the bag of rolos. YUM! It was the best caramel brownie type of bar. Next time I will make it for company so that I don't have a chance to eat half of the pan.

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2010
I love this recipe. It couldn't have been easier. I couldn't wait to try it once it was out of the oven. I wasn’t disappointed. My husband already requested a second loaf. I hope it is just as good on the second day. I did put a little melted unsalted butter on top, but I'm not sure how it changed the taste. Next time I will try it without the butter. oh, I forgot to add which type of beer I used, it was Bud Select. I just reviewed the recipe and realized I forgot to add the salt. I didn't miss it, it was salty enough from the beer.

Party Punch I

Reviewed: Apr. 14, 2010
I've made this twice, once according to the directions and once without the grape juice. It was a hit both times, but best with the extra juice. At the suggestion of my sis-in-law I used regular food coloring to get a nice orange for a fall baby shower.

Double Crust Stuffed Pizza

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
This was a wonderfuly easy recipe. My only compliant is that the top crust didn't cook. I baked the pizza in the middle of my oven for 45 min as directed, the edges were perfect and the top was still doughy. I think next time I will leave the sauce off until the last 10 min. I hope that fixes the problem. Even though the crust didn't bake the pizza disappeared, it was the perfect size for 4 hungry adults. I don't think anyone even noticed the crust was still doughy. UPDATE: My oven has since bit the dust. I believe that is why the top crust didn't bake as it should have. I can't give a recipe less because of faulty equipment. *****

Caroline's Chocolate Fudge Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This frosting saved the birthday cake I made for my husband last weekend. I attempted to make a german chocolate cake but I didn't use enough spray on the pans. So, the cake came out in pieces and I used this frosting to hide the fact that it was such a mess. It saved my husbands birthday cake. I had run out of time for the back up pan of brownies.

German Sweet Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
The cake tasted great, but it was crumbly. I didn't use enough spray on the cake pans but the parts that did come out in one piece were crumbly. I had to use a chocolate fudge recipe to hide the fact that it was pieced together. So it was a learning experiance, next time I will use tons of spray on the pan.

French Silk Chocolate Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
This was the best chocolate pie ever! I used a grahmcracker crust and my mom used real whipping cream for the topping. I didn't mention the raw eggs, I didn't want anyone to worry anyone for no reason. The pie disappeared so fast at my family Thanksgiving. I didn't change the recipe. I just took my time with my stand mixer and let everything get nice and fluffy.

Mexicali Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2009
Ok, so I used this recipe, but I wasn't in a hury so I changed it a bit. I used the basic idea of the recipe so that is why I would recomend this so highly. I sprinkled the taco seasoning over the port chops, and then sliced the chops so they were about 1/2 inch wide. I put the rest of the seasoning in a pan w/ 2 packets of water. I added the port chop strips, covered it up and cooked on medium to medium low heat for 40 min. THe pork chop strips were done after 30, but the rice wasn't done so I just let it simmer a little longer. It was so incredibly tender. I will make this again.

I loved how this recipe was just as easy as a mix. I skipped the nuts, and didn't put many chocolate chips on top. It was the best homemade brownie I've ever made.

Scrambled Egg Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
I made these for Christmas morning with my family. Everyone loved them, even the people who showed up an hour late. The reheated muffins disappeared. I didn't have all of the veggies that I needed so I used salsa in some and fresh veggies in the others.
