Egg Salad with Avocado

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2014
My original way of making egg salad sandwiches just went out the window!! This is a fantastic recipe with a nice twist of avocado to it. I was looking for something a bit more than traditional and I found it, very tasty as well. I doubled the recipe and with that I added two tablespoons of olive oil mayonnaise ( only because I like it with it, recipe does NOT, need it, for I tried it with out the mayo also). I also added just a splash, splash only of lemon juice to keep avocado from browning as it chilled. This recipe is a definite keeper. LOVE IT. Thank you for posting it. Tip keep the pit of the avocado with the finished salad and the keeps from browning too,,,

Not a bad basic receipt, I added one cup plain yogurt and dill to taste about one half teaspoon for my liking. It will be saucy, to aide in the cucumbers sweating slice with then sprinkle with salt and let rest while making sauce.

This is a great summer time fruit salad. I simply LOVE it. I will be making this time and time again. I read some of the reviews before making it, blended the banana with the juice of the pineapple and splashed in some Lemmon juice TA DAAA no brown turning bananas!!! I am not one that usually one who like canned fruit like fruit cocktail but with this recipe it's simply devine.

Buffalo Chicken Wing Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2014
I found this sauce to be tasty, but lacking on the HEAT side. After reading some of the other reviews I decided to add one tbl sp of dark brown sugar, and one tbl sp. of Old Bay Seasoning, I also, used only three quarters of a stick of butter. That was my tweeking it. The flavor was great. Keep in mind I made it exactly as written the first time. My husband said they were too spicy for him, however for my son and I not nearly enough heat. Each heat factor varies. Over all very pleased with this recipe.

Corn Fritters

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
These were really good, however IF you like your fritters to be sweet, 1/4 teaspoon sugar is NOT hardly enough. I used 2 TBS of sugar and they were perfect for my taste preference. A helpful hint. If you would like your fritters more like a ball shape, chill the batter in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before cooking. ONE REVIEWER SAID THEY ARE MESSY TO MAKE, I DISAGREE. NOT MESSY TO MAKE AT ALL. These are simple and tasty. best of all most have all that is needed on hand (THESE ARE GREAT WITH POWDERED SUGAR SPRINKLED ON TOP ).

Pittsburgh Steeler Super Bowl® Sampler

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2013
I was looking at recipes, and saw the title of this one. My son is a HUGE Steeler fan so I thought, what the heck Ill try it. I told my husband what I was making and he was less than impressed when he heard what it was. Once I finished cooking it, and we were seated down watching FOOTBALL eating this dish, my husband said. Ill have to get some more of that., he went on to say, I wasn't too sure about it BUT its REALLY, REALLY good. SO HUGE success. LOVE this recipe WILL MAKE IT AGAIN. I added a can of beef broth to it. Only alteration I made. Simply FANTASTIC.

This is my recipe, and I am only rating it a 4 simply because everything can always be improved upon. This is truly a wonderful comfort food. Takes some time to make but the end result is worth it. I hope all who try it enjoy it.

Root Beer BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2013
I usually try a recipe to the LETTER before making a review, however I did not have any orange juice at the time I needed to make the sauce, I had only apple juice, so that is what I used..It turned out FANTASTIC.. Absolutely love the sauce..This is now going to ba staple sauce in my home. For those who like a thicker sauce (I like this just the way it is, using apple juice instead, have not tried with orange juice), BUT if you like a thicker sauce just add a bit of corn starch to reach your level of thickness, but seriously I do feel it needs to be thicker.. LOVE this sauce..

Restaurant-Style Hashbrown Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2013
This is NOT Cracker Barrels Hashbrown Casserole IT'S BETTER!!!! My husband loves Cracker Barrels Hashbrown Casserole, and in his words "This is A LOT Better than Cracker Barrel's HB Casserole" As for myself I have never liked CB's Hashbrown Casserole, BUT I really liked this and will make it again especially around the holidays. As mentioned by one reviewer, next time I will not use as much onion, but other than that a SIMPLY GREAT RECIPE LOVE LOVE LOVE IT.

Cabbage Success

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2013
This is a recipe that you either like it or you don't. I say that because half my family liked it when I made it the first time, and the other half did not, we are ALL cabbage lovers. MY personal opinion is that I prefer the fried style of cabbage. I tweaked this recipe the second and third time making it. I added caraway seeds (1tbs) along with BLACK pepper instead of white. I also added some crispy fried bacon. Reduced the milk to half a cup. So that is why I gave only three stars. I for my taste had to make several adjustments.

Candied Sweet Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2013
Great Starting point for a Candied Sweet Potatoes Recipe. Simply Yummy. Entire family loved this. I made this in anticipation of getting Thanksgiving Dinner Menu together, wanted a variation to the normal that I do. I found it. I only gave it 4 stars because I added toasted nuts to it as a splash of vanilla. For best results (Ive made it twice now) make sure the sauce is completely melted and blended together... But YES this is a GREAT YUMMY Recipe. I will make this ALOT more.

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2013
Good starting point for making a quiche. I made it the directed way the first time and made adjustments the second time. I prefer this recipe made with FRESH spinach. Blanch in boiling water for about 5 minutes drain well I used approx. 6 cups of fresh baby spinche.. It was great. I also added some grape tomato sliced in half blended in some feta cheese. This adds a very flavorful and distinctive taste... yum yum.

I have made this twice now. The first time exactly as written (FANTASTIC) the second time I did not have the ricotta cheese, so I used cottage cheese as well as feta cheese in the blend, I also used a bacon flavored pasta sauce for a bit of a twist.. ALSO fantastic....LOVE this recipe.. I will make BOTH these variation time and time again to come. HINT: I also used TRIPPLE the amount of spinach the second time around.... LOVE this recipe. Thank you for sharing.

Laurie's Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2013
I can only give this recipe 3 stars. I usually do not give anything less than 4, however for my family and I, this recipe needed a lot of adjustments. Made it to the letter the first time around. The second time I added more seasoning (caraway seed, Italian seasoning, and some white pepper as well as extra salt to taste, as the stuffing was bland) The second time around I also only cut off the tops of the bell peppers, gutted and rinsed out. I made the peppers act as a bowl for the stuffing mix. It is a good starting point for those who have never made stuffed peppers before, but it does in my opinion need a few adjustments. I also found that an asiago, parmesan and romano shredded cheese blend works better for flavor as opposed to just asiago.

German Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2013
Love this recipe. Gave 4 stars because the second time I made it I tweaked it to make it better and have some tips that may be useful. Those that found the sauce runny as I did initially double the amount of kielbasa AND after blending the soups and milk combine the kraut with the sauce. It reduces the liquid level (don't forget to drain well the kraut). ALSO top each layer with shredded swiss cheese. After baking let the lasagna set for at least 15 minutes to form. THIS is a great recipe. I do LOVE it. Reminds me of great times in Germany when my parents were stationed there.

Spinach Lasagna I

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2013
This is a great starting point recipe. I made it to the letter the first time around and found it to be quite good. I then took some tips from other reviewers and almost tripled the amount of spinach and I added 8oz. of crumbled feta cheese along with double the amount of mushrooms. THEN I found it to be FANTASTIC... A New Favorite Recipe has been born. THank You for posting your recipe. I love it
