Original Chex® Party Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
a holiday staple at my house. I use a little more butter, garlic powder, and worstchester than the recipe calls for, along with about one Tbs. steak sauce like A-1 for a little zing.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
These are awesome! I made them for a holiday buffet and they were the first to get eaten. I would recommend baking them in a pan with a raised bottom to catch drippings or to blot them off on paper towel after baking. I pulled them out of the oven and directly put them on the table and I thought they were a little greasy.

Yummy Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
This was SOOO good. I wasn't sure about the chili's but they were definitely great! It makes a huge recipe. If it's not a huge party and/or you are serving a lot of other things I would recommend splitting the recipe and freezing half for a later time.

Sherry Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
Very yummy. I followed some of the other reviews and marinated the chops in 1/2 c. sherry, 1/2 c. apple juice, and splashed in some soy sauce as well. I think the sherry was well balanced this way. Definitely consider the thickness of your chops when baking. Mine were done in half the time.

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2009
This was great and super easy. I served it with garlic mashed redskins, but rice or roasted potatoes would go with it really well. Next time I'll make more sauce and add more mushrooms.

Salmon with Creamy Dill Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2009
This was a big hit. My guests said the dill sauce was awesome and asked for this dish again!

Spaghetti Squash with Pine Nuts, Sage, and Romano

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2009
This was great! I made it from memory and did a few things differently. I sauted some garlic in butter and veggie stock then added the cooked squash, tossed and then added the other ingredients. Next time I won't use the garlic, and I think a splash of dry white wine would be good too.

Penne Pasta with Cannellini Beans and Escarole

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2009
This was an easy, delicious, light meal. Definitely saute 3 cloves of garlic in the oil before adding the other ingredients. Spinach would also work in this dish and meat could be added if you like.

Brazilian Chicken with Coconut Milk

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2009
Very delicious! Next time I will omit the jalapenio completely, it covered up too much of the coconut.

Alissa's Vegetarian Lentil Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
I modified the recipe because I didn't have some of the veggies on hand and substituted mushrooms. Next time I make this I will season the ingredients as I go, as mine turned out on the bland side. The katchup/tomato on top was great. "The chef's Miracle Blend" would be great in this, or maybe soy sauce.

Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2009
Good burgers, though as the last reviewer suggested you will need to add your own sauce and spices for flavoring. These are a good starting point for your own creative ideas.
