Lazy Golumbkis

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2008
I guess I'm not a cabbage fan. I read the reviews and was very excited after reading all the reviews, but this one was disappointing. The recipe was easy to follow and very easy to prepare. For me it turned out very dry, even after I added a cup of water. Will not try it again.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
I think the recipe is great and very flavorful. It was easy with pre-cooked chicken that we had left over, might be a good way to use leftover turkey. I added some chipolte chili and it was way too hot, I think that was it so will definately leave them out or cut back next time. vaa

Heavenly Chocolate Souffles

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
First Souffles I had ever tried. I halved the recipe and went with 3 eggs instead of the 5. Used two larger souffle dishes, as I don't have the small 6 that are called for. The Souffle puffed nicely, and tasted very good. Tried the next time using the suggested larger souffle bowl and full amount of eggs. Substituted with about 10 oz of semi-sweet chocolate chips and left out the sugar in the eggs to compensate. Cooked it a lot longer than the suggested time, but kept it with the wiggle in the middle. Perfection!!!

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
Yes, it's a 5!! Used Turkey stock instead of water and turkey took the entire amount of time, so not a quick one. Meat was juicy and tender, we ate turkey for 5 days, first time we've ever finished the entire bird!

Conch Fritters

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
Fritters were a wonderful consistency and very easy. I used crab as the meat and left out the green peppers. I had to double the recipe, as wanted to use it as a main entree. Even doubled, it yielded only 6 fist sized fritters. Threw in some canned corn and felt I added a lot of the spices. They could have used more, maybe next time will try with some jalepenos, or a hotter sauce. Will do again and want to try different types of fish.

Hot German Potato Salad III

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2009
I have used this recipe for years, and always taken office potlucks...never any leftovers. My version calls for a Kelbasa, which I slice thickly and fry a little after the bacon and remove from pan. All gets added back in the end and you can even keep it in a casserole dish and heat in the oven the next day. Very Very Yummy Recipe.

Taco Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
I use a version of this taco pie recipe as a staple dish. forger the taco seasoning mix, just mix an 8oz can of tomato sauce with the ground beef. You can also skip the step of pre baking the dough. bake the whole pie at the same time until the outer crust looks nice and brown and the cheese is melted. Garnish with lettuce, green onions, tomatoes..everything you'd put on a taco.

Fall French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
I really wanted to love this recipe, but it was just too strange with the apple cider. I liked the consistency of the apples and onions, next time I would elimate or drastically reduce the apple cider. Had a vinegar type taste with it, plain french onion soup would have been better.

Creamy Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
easier than the reviews say, mine came out fluffy with the exact consistency of whipped cream frosting. I couldn't seem to get the word Paste out of my head, but I kept dipping into the frosting for more, it had a very nice light butter cream taste. I hope it holds up, like others say it has. My first try, would definately think about adding some flavor to it on future uses.

Easy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
Recipe is easy, but found that the meat could have used more seasoning than just salt/pepper. The ketchup topping was very good, I didn't find it too ketchupy like some reviewers, just needed the rest of it to be as good. Would use again, but would spice it up a bit.

Mixed Seafood Curry

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2010
uugg..I really wanted to love this one, but the shrimp were just too shrimpy and the sauce wasn't curry enough to replace a restaurant quality version. I added the peanut butter as suggested, but it didn't help. I will keep looking for a better recipe.
