I believe that food has the capacity to become art. The arrangement of vivid colors becomes your palette, the exquisite burst of flavor upon the tongue that can bring back childhood memories of everything from Grandma's famous peanut butter cookies to that irreplaceable Southern Gumbo, and the form of the plating. Secondarily, but most importantly, I believe that art without love is just another fast food meal. When you take time, hard work, determination, and genuine care with your cooking, everyone will taste the distinct influence of your love of food.
My favorite things to cook
I've never met something from a food group I haven't liked. Everything has potential to become dazzling.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Proper preparation. Lots of laughter. Getting your hands dirty will bring you closer to what you're creating, and bring you that much more satisfaction when it takes form.
My cooking triumphs
Excel at chicken and beef dishes.
My cooking tragedies
My first attempt at peanut butter brittle, believe it or not, when I was sixteen. It turned out far too gooey and I was prying it off the pan for hours afterwards.
