About this Cook
I am a mom to five children. I have a blended family of five children (his, mine and ours), ages 3 to 19. I work at my professional job about 45 hours a week and dabble on eBay for fun (when I get a chance). I enjoy spending time with my children, cooking, baking and shopping.
My favorite things to cook
Italian dishes, any dish with red meat and Mexican top the list.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I'm making memories in the kitchen with my daughter, who just turned 5. She has an apron, a step stool and her little cups and bowls. It's priceless and something I wish my Mother had shared with me.
My cooking triumphs
Revamping some old family favorites that I grew up with and get complimented on how much better they are now by my parents when they visit.
My cooking tragedies
When I moved to Nashville about 7 years ago, I tried to make fried chicken. Well, I heated the grease too much and just about burnt down the kitchen. Luckily, we had a back door right off the kitchen and the pan went flying out in the yard with flames blaring! We laugh today, but it could have been terrible.

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
I made this for Thanksgiving and it turned out terrific. Like some others, I added 1/2 of a can of cream-style corn to the listed ingredients and made it in a cast iron skillet. Twenty-five minutes in the oven and it was moist and delicious. Now this transplant northern girl can please my southern husband with a knock-out cornbread recipe. Thanks for posting!

Classic Goulash
This was an easy meal with ingredients that you already have on hand. I, like some of the others, added diced green pepper, black pepper and some garlic powder for more flavoring. Thanks for posting!

Easy White Chili
This recipe was wonderful. Like other reviews, I pureed two of the five cans of beans to thicken and cut back a bit on the onion. It's hard to find a recipe that is exactly what you want without tweaking it, but this one is. Thank you, Nancie, for submitting it.
