I need to jump back on the cooking bandwagon. It would really help if I had a few cooking buddies to share the excitement of learning to cook with. Any takers? Last night I had an epic migraine and couldn’t get out of bed. Thankfully my mother was able to come put the kids to bed and my hubby cooked delicious pasta with meat sauce when he got home at 10:00pm! The night before I just felt lazy and decided to watch Glee instead of cook dinner. Tisk tisk. I did saute some broccoli though and my daughter actually ate a piece!
Still, zero points for me.

Rebecca - Try posting questions on "Recipe Buzz." You will find many cooking buddies there. Actually it's more like family. If you do go there always click on "request a recipe" whether it's a simple question or asking for a recipe. I dare you to give it a try.

Hi Rebecca - - I'm not a new cook nor am I as young as yourself - - but I appreciate your enthusiasm for wanting to learn to cook. I am a chef and I teach classes to young mothers like yourself who want to learn the joy of cooking. I am also a Floridian like yourself - albeit a northern Floridian - but that's just geography - I will be happy to help you along your journey of becoming a creative, happy, cook / wife / mother. If you would like to interact here on AR, we can do that - - if you have another means of corresponding, I'll try to adapt to that. I'll admit I'm not a Facebook person or Twitter or any of those other mediums - I e-mail and I "IM" but that's about the extent of it. Otherwise I am happily cooking in my own kitchen for my family and customers (as I am a caterer also). Let me know how I can help you and I will do it. What are you preparing for Thanksgiving?

I know when a migraine hits the victim can't do much. I suggest that you make up some of the soup recipes on this AR site and freeze them in zip lock bags. That way if it is a "can't do night" it is easy to just dump a few bags into a pot and slowly heat it up to temp. Kids can get by with soup and crackers and a piece of fruit that night and little clean up. I love the chicken tortilla and it freezes really well. Chili also freezes well. Most of the cream soups separate a bit if frozen. Just a suggestion. 10:00 meat sauce/pasta jsut sounded late and exasperating to me.

About Me
I'm a beginner cook looking for fairly easy recipes that take an hour or less. I have two daughters both under the age of two who I want to introduce to all kinds of food!
My favorite things to cook
I'm open to try anything once.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I don't have any, yet!
My cooking triumphs
The first Christmas I cooked for the extended family I made a very good Turkey with awesome cranberry glaze. I also made a really good green-bean casserole.
My cooking tragedies
Quite a few, unfortunately!
