Tater Taco Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Not bad for a kid meal, I found that the pan size is going to come into play. To large of a pan and I don't think there is enough meat to tater ratio.

Three Cheese Baked Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
I have been making these for years since I found them on this site. They are a huge hit at the holidays and one of the staples for us, everyone looks forward to them. I use more bacon bits then it calls for and about ¼ - ½ of the topping. I just use enough toping to cover it, the topping is a little dry and one year I am sure I will change it but if it aint broke why fix it! Also I do not use fresh onions I use minced onions instead, the fresh onions can very easy overpower the dish.

Allie's Delicious Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
My son loved it; it was great to say that I made homemade macaroni! I would recommend using diced ham and not cubed. A ham loving child will pick out the cubes, diced would allow the ham to penetrate more of the mix, we will use diced next time.

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Perfect as cupcakes, the icing didn't turnout but I think that was my fault. I used store bought icing and they were wonderful. I kept them fresh in a sealed container in the refrigerator for over a week. Just take out of the refrigerator a couple minutes before you want to serve. A wonderful cupcake that the kids LOVE!

Baked Ziti II

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
This turned out great! I used about half of the ricotta that it called for and it still turned out great, actually perfectly that way. My 6 year old loved it, again I think that is because I was cautious on the ricotta, too much and I think it would have failed for a child.

Slow Cooker BBQ Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
Easy to make, I am positive that the flavor will be all about the BBQ sauce you use. That will make or break how they turn out.

Easy Pizza Sauce III

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
We found this sauce to be a little bitter and tangy even with the sugar added. I will try it again when I have more time to figure out how to reduce the bitterness of the sauce. Overall a quick and easy sauce with the perfect consistency; just over powering to the rest of the pizza.

Easiest BBQ Pork Chops

Very easy, I recommend making sure that the pork chops have the bone in them. The second day, left overs, the flavor was incredible!

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
One of my son’s favorite things I make. I agree with others that you need to add basil, garlic powder and oregano to the dough and use olive oil. I tried using an “Italian Seasoning” once instead of the spices separately; the seasoning mix had rosemary which overpowered everything. It is really easy to make and I use the KitchenAid with the dough attachment to mix it all together. Let rise for at least 30 minutes and you have a wonderful crust! We like to add bacon bits to our pizza, I have found that you should put them on right after the sauce then the cheese…incredible flavor!

Easy Pizza Sauce II

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2009
I was looking for a good pizza sauce for the pizza dough I have been making. I used real garlic and followed the suggestions of adding sugar. While it is not as “thick” as I would like for saucing the pizza its flavor was great and worked very well with the pizza dough!

Uglies

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2009
Excellent recipe and really easy to make. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is I think that the right BBQ sauce can make or break these. I really liked the Kraft Hickory BBQ Sauce, if you are only eating one or maybe two of them...more than two and it gets a little tangy but later has a great after taste. I would say that the recipe really needs to suggest the right BBQ Sauce...it will become 5 stars as soon as I figure out the best BBQ sauce...trying KC Masterpiece next time.

Pumpkin Spice Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2009
This bread is unreal!! I am going to work on making it a muffin recipe but it is so sweet, so incredible. We have a local restaurant that makes pumpkin muffins to die for and well this recipe puts them to shame...and they are the standard by which all pumpkin bread/muffins are judged! The day after making the best pumpkin bread in the world I turned them into muffins. They turn out just as well. The only thing you need to know is, grease the pan…I used PAM to grease the pans. If you are going for “regular” muffins they will cook for about 20-25 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean at 350 and “large” muffins take about 35-40 minutes. I used a ladle to fill the pans, the large muffins take about 2 ladles give or take a smudge…and the “regulars” take about a ladle. Basically the muffins pan should be 1/2 – 3/4’s full. Additional notes – we can’t get 16 oz cans of pumpkin so I used a 15 oz can plus approximately a 3/4's of a 1/4 cup to get the “16 oz” can. In my first baking I winged it and don’t think I put enough to make the 16 oz requirement. If you are short they will be a little sugary…not that it is a bad thing. Additionally when I make the mix, I put the sugar, eggs, oil together mix well…then I the pumpkin…then all the spices…then the water…then the flour. They are amazing!! Again these are the best muffins yet! As I mentioned in the earlier review, there is a restaurant where I live that makes pumpkin muffins that all should be judged by, these e

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
My son (5yrs old) and I made this for the first time today, what an amazing chili! It is the perfect blend of spice and chili! You would never know it is turkey, a nice thick chili! The only thing I did to modify the recipe was removed 1 can of kidney beans. I would be worried that there would be too many beans in it had I added the 2nd can. I would also recommend doubling the recipe if you are serving this to more than 3 people, everyone is going to want seconds and the original recipe would not be enough to feed everyone seconds. I will be making this all winter!!!
