Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2012
Good recipe. Nice texture. However, for me, these were way too sweet. Next time I would cut back the white sugar by at least 1/2 cup. Also, not sure what dissolving the baking soda in hot water does. I will make these again though, with less sugar.

Banana Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2012
This was a very tasty recipe, though I followed some of the recommendations in the comments. I used butter instead of shortening and had 4 small very ripe bananas on hand, so used all of them. I also used brown sugar instead of white and left out the lemon juice. Also, I did not glaze or frost these. In fact, I would reduce the sugar on these next time to about 1/2 cup. I prefer things less sweet. I had to bake an additional 10 minutes to get them done all the way. Probably due to the extra bananas. Great flavor and texture.

Rhubarb Strawberry Crunch

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2012
Yum! This is a nice recipe. Different than most crisps I've make because this one uses crunch on the bottom too. I made a few modifcations and it turned out great. I baked the crunch about 15 minutes in the oven BEFORE putting the fruit in, as others have mentioned. Then I deleted the vanilla flavoring and instead used 1/2 cup of orange juice and 1/2 cup water and an extra tablespoon of cornstarch. The orange juice brightens the flavor. I also reduced the white sugar to about 3/4 cup so it would be a bit more tart. YUM! A definate keeper. Thanks for sharing.

Canned Apple Pie Filling

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
This was a great and simple recipe to make. I used some Rum-Brandy I had left from the holidays to add a little flavor, about 1/2 cup. I also put 1 T. cinnamon and 1 tsp. nutmeg in mine. It is so good. The only issue I had was that after packing my apples into the jars and adding the hot syrup...once they all cooled the apples sort of settled and there ended up being too much headspace in my jars. I am going to either tap the apples down more or try cubing the apples the next time I make it. But it is a keeper for sure.

Stir-Fried Kale and Broccoli Florets

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2009
I love this recipe! I didn't have a chili pepper, so I used about 1/2-1 tsp. of dried chili's. I also only needed 1/2 of a lime for my taste. Yum Yum!!! Love it!
