Renaissance Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2012
I've made these lots of times now and they are always well-received! I skip precooking the mushroom caps and they turn out just fine. I've found that a suitable substitute if you don't like port is 1 tbsp of good balsamic or red wine vinegar to give it a similar tang (I prefer the port though!). These are great for year round entertaining--thanks!

Pumpkin Spice Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2012
Really good, and my girls couldn't wait for them to bake! I did make muffins for portability, and baked them for 35-40 minutes. I had some pepitas and decided to top half the batch with them also. Thanks, I love that these use no oil!

Cornbread Stuffing with al fresco® Sweet Apple Chicken Sausage

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2012
I love stuffing with sausage, cranberries, and apples so was excited to try this. The sweet apple chicken sausage is a nice addition, but it does make it on the sweeter side--I liked it! I did dice the sausage instead of slicing it because it seemed like having larger slices would have been awkward and cheated by using bagged cornbread stuffing. The only complaint I have is that it would be very dry if only 1/2 cup of stock is used in the original presentation with normal cornbread. Add more to suit your taste and prevent overdryness.

Easy Weeknight Bacon Mac 'n Cheese

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
I'll give this 5 stars due to flavor. I left out the "cheese loaf" since I don't have it in the house and added a bit more shredded cheddar. This is perfect for busy weeknights and got my daughter out the door for soccer with a full tummy and no complaints. Thanks, Progresso!

Italian Chicken Sausage Stuffed Portabellas

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
I just LOVED this! The flavor combination is delicious and it's incredibly quick and easy to put together. I'll definitely be making this again. Al Fresco has become one of my favorite "convenience" foods and I like that it's all natural. Thanks for another winner!

Tetrazzini

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2012
Good for a quick & convenient weeknight meal, just add a side of steamed broccoli (or your favorite vegetable). Don't be afraid of the amount of sauce you end up with in step 4, once you add the spaghetti and chicken it coats it and doesn't seem soupy. I liked that I had most of the ingredients on hand--just add Progresso!

Pizza Primavera

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2012
It is convenient and quick, and it's fun to dip the pizza in the sauce. I used fresh vegetables (yellow, orange, and red peppers and red onion) and sauteed them for a few minutes to soften them up before topping the pizza crust. Although it's not our all-time favorite pizza recipe, this would be a good option for a busy school night. The kalamata olives were a must for extra flavor!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2012
Oh my goodness, these are so delicious! I topped ours with ranch dressing, and next time I might dice some celery also to add to the sandwiches. My husband & I couldn't get enough. I made this with Scott's Buffalo Wing Sauce from here and would not change a thing. I look forward to making this LOTS during Football season!!

Scott's Buffalo Wing Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2012
This was delicious! I used it to make the Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches here and my husband and I just loved it. I did reduce the butter by half to get a more concentrated flavor in my slow cooker, but YUM! This will be my go-to wing sauce!

Homemade Pizza Sauce Made Lighter

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2012
My daughter enjoyed this but we don't have to sneak veggies into her foods. It is a savory sauce since it has no added sugar, and I liked that. It makes a lot and would be a good start to a spaghetti sauce also.

Goat Cheese Apple Walnut Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2012
Yum! This would be an excellent Fall side and may even make an appearance at Thanksgiving this year! The flavors work so well together, and you have to like goat cheese to enjoy this pasta. Ditalini pasta is a fun shape and really holds the sauce. Another great one, Chef John, thanks!!

Brownie Mix in a Jar III

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
Butterscotch is brown sugar and butter, and these brownies have it. They do not taste like artificial butterscotch chips, but they have a cleaner taste, so the former reviewers wondering why they don't include the chips may not realize these are true butterscotch. Sweet, a bit gooey, chewy from the coconut (and if you snag the corner piece!), they are delightful. If you like nuts, chopped pecans would be a nice addition. I'd be happy using this mix as a gift. My daughter loved the brownies, and I like that they are not chocolate--although nothing's wrong with chocolate, we just like it way too much in our house! Thanks for a great recipe! *Be sure to use a big jar, this calls for 5 cups of ingredients!

Tangy Tomato Tart (Pie)

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2012
This is DELICIOUS. Be sure to use whole seed dijon mustard. I was afraid the amount of olive oil would make it runny, but it emulsified enough and made a wonderful filling. I drained my tomatoes for a few minutes so they wouldn't wash out the tart, and baked it in a small stoneware pan. It did feel and taste like something I would eat in a French bistro or cafe. Simple, tasty, and divine! I look forward to making this for girlfriends!

Vegetarian Green Chile Stew

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
I love that it's vegetarian, but 5 cups of water is too much. I eyeballed it as I was adding it and stopped at 3, and I believe that was plenty. Otherwise, it would have been too watered-down. We don't find green chiles to be spicy, and would add diced jalapenos for added kick. Tomatoes would be a nice addition also. Served it with garlic toast and my family enjoyed it. Meat eaters could easily add chicken or ground beef.

Sesame Lemon Crisps

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
We love sesame seeds and lemon, and these are tasty little cookies. My toddler loved helping me stir everything together, and they were so easy! Thanks for a family-friendly recipe that's beyond a typical cookie! Oh, and the nutritional information is way off--this makes approximately 5 dozen cookies, not 5 servings.

Carrot Spread Surprise

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
It does taste like carrots & pecans, and I think it needs a few more ingredients and spices to be incredible. I think it would work well to fill celery for a lunchbox, the flavors aren't strong and my 10yr old daughter liked it. I plan on trying to 'recondition' this recipe into something else so we'll enjoy it more.

Southwestern Corn and Walnut Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2012
This would be a really good addition to a Southwest or Chili dinner party. It's definitely different but tasty. Very easy to make, I'd serve it with tortilla chips or spoon it in to the scoop shaped tortilla chips for finger foods.

Easy Black Bean Hummus

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2012
This was easy, and I could see it being part of a burrito wrap with lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and maybe shredded cheese. As a dip, not bad but a little bland, it needs to be accompanied with additional ingredients to be a WOW. 4 stars for ease and healthfulness!

Shrimp and Grits Louisiana Style

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2012
My husband LOVED this, but he loves shrimp and grits. I would probably make it again just because my husband devoured it and I appreciate the low ingredient count, but it comes in second to my all-time favorite shrimp & grits recipe. Tasso is hard to find so I substituted pancetta. Overall, a good one. Thanks for sharing!

Real Strawberry Frosting

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
Fantastic! My daughter is obsessed with strawberries, so I knew this would be perfect for her 3rd birthday party. I had no trouble at all with the texture, it was very creamy and light and everyone loved it. I can't wait to make this again! It's natural and that's always a plus in my book ; )
