Sage Pork Chops

I used boneless porkchops, fresh sage, and added onions and garlic to the sauce, didn't salt the meat, and cut down the cooking time...but the meat was VERY tough and though the pork chops were bland, the sauce was very salty...even though I only used one beef bouillon tablet in 2 cups of boiling water (for 4 small boneless porkchops). My husband said it tasted like bad Chinese food...probably from the MSG from the bouillon cube. Should have known from the ingredients.

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

I decided to try this out and found that the seasonings were ok, but just using salt and pepper ONLY on a boneless skinless chicken thigh (taking out the excess fat w/ knife) and using butter on the pan makes the skin nice and crisp,JUICY inside, and the BEST CHICKEN EVER. No need for other seasonings...but to make gravy, scraped bits w/ flour, butter and REAL garlic, now THAT's what makes a good seasoning! Never tried butter to fry the chicken before, thanx for the idea!

Too Much Chocolate Cake

It is 2 hours before my baby's Dr. appointment, and I am extremely disappointed with the results. I decided to bake something nice for the Dr. and staff for the holidays, and thought this would be a no brainer with its rave reviews. I made two 8 inch square cakes, and I ended up eating a quarter of the one pan trying to debate if I should bother taking it to the Dr or not. It IS denser than the cake box mix, but that's all the difference I taste. Maybe I'll just make the Satiny chocolate glaze and give it in so I don't waste it, but what a disappointment! UPDATE: I originally gave this a 1 star, but had to change it to 4. With the left over, my toddler couldn't get enough of it (he doesn't really like too much sweets believe it or not...maybe the "bittersweet" chocolate chips made it more palatable for him). My 6 year old nephew cried "THIS IS THE BEST BEST CHOCOLATE CAKE EVER! THIS IS BETTER THAN MY MOM'S!!" Even my sister exclaimed what a great, rich cake this was. Hmm, perhaps it's just a personal taste preference (thus the 4 star) but I'm glad I ended up giving the other cake to the Doctor and staff.

Awesome Korean Steak

All I could taste was the soy sauce, nothing else from the marinade. WAY too salty. After inquiring, the best way to make this type of marinade is to dilute the soy sauce w/ water, 1:2 ratio, eg, if you use 1/2 cup soy sauce dilute it with 1 cup water.

Mexican Rice II

This was soooo good, I'm going to be using it for Thanksgiving! (No turkey, red meat only for this Latin family). I used "Taco seasoning I" from this website as someone else suggested *THANK U SOO MUCH** in place of the Cumin and garlic salt, and it was deeeelicious!

Penne a la Vodka I

I have tried many many different Penne a la Vodka recipes, and this is by far THE BEST I have yet to encounter! Although I didn't follow the recipe EXACTLY, I would never have thought of making it like this otherwise. I used Center cut bacons (b/c that's what I had in hand, but I realize using regular bacon may be too strong of a flavor, and you cut a lot of fat by using Center cut). I also only use San Marzano Tomato Sauce, or Peeled Tomatoes, because they are less salty and every chef I know recommends them. I also did not use fresh tomatoes because I just happened to miss that part, but it was great nonetheless. As for heavy cream, I never measure the full amount because it's usually too heavy for me, so I just eyeball it for color and my preference in flavor for the heavy cream. Thank you so much for the recipe, I will never have to look up another Penne a la Vodka sauce recipe again!!

Bob's Stuffed Mushrooms

I thought this was okay. I tried this according to the recipe but I see now what everybody meant when they said they didn't taste the clams. I put a little more clams than the recipe called for because I LOVE clams, but I didn't taste it at all. Next time I'll just use crabmeat like another reviewer mentioned. The italian seasoning along with the italian breadcrumbs really overpowered the taste.. Next time I'll just use plain breadcrumbs, less italian seasoning, and a little more parmesan cheese to the recipe. And there was a LOT of stuffing left over, so you need to either halve the recipe or use more mushrooms.
