Easy Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2013
Easy. A little on the salty side. Not sure how the flour was supposed to dissolve in the butter. Ended up using the broth to dissolve.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2013
Great and easy. You don't need quite as much butter as the recipe calls for. I used ~2/3.

Fried Cabbage II

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2013
Added more vinegar (only had regular) and more salt. Very tasty alone or as a side! Next time will try cooking in Pam vs bacon drippings as they were a little greasy.

Whipped Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2013
Only had regular sugar. Think confectioner sugar would've made it lighter. Worried about over-beating so I think I could've beat longer.

Pumpkin Oatmeal

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2013
Kids ate it up. Used 1 c. regular oats, 1 c. water and 1.5 c. milk. 3/4 c. pumpkin, 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice. Added raisins and cinnamon sugar to taste.

Asian Turkey Burgers

Tasty! Did a mix of soy sauce and vegetarian oyster sauce. Didn't have fresh ginger on hand so used ground, but that would probably make them even tastier.

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2013
Used applesauce instead of oil. Used paper liners with the first batch and they come out better without out them. Just spray the tin with Pam. Only used about 60% of the sugar and they were sweet enough (added semi-sweet chocolate chips). Will try plain and with raisins next time.

Slow Cooker Moroccan-Style Chicken and Potato Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2013
Eliminted the red pepper altogether as kids were eating. Otherwise followed recipe. Forgot to add the lemon juice but it was still pretty tasty. Served with cous cous. Used three diced potatoes + 1/2 large onion chopped instead of the Simply Potatoes.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2013
Used 1.25 c. milk and .25 c. cream. Think you could do without the cream all together. Only had regular diced tomatoes so added half a chopped onion and a dollop of minced garlic. Made with frozen ravioli - very good!

Dutch Apple Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2013
Really delicious! I followed the recipe exactly and baked for 45 minutes without parchment paper. Only issue was the crust edges burned. I would cover the edges with foil or reduce heat to 350 for the last 30 minutes.

Chicken and Corn Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2013
Similar in flavor to Slow Cooker Taco Soup, but simpler. A little on the thick side but quick to put together. Threw in everything together and put on low for 8 hours.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2013
Followed the recipe exactly except only cooked on Low for 5.5 hours. Seems saucy, but once you shred the chicken (which I realize the recipe doesn't actually tell you to do), it's really the right amount!

V. good. Didn't have parsley on hand so left it out. Make sure you use good bread!

St. Louis Toasted Ravioli

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2013
Baked at 350 for 30 minutes. Probably a bit on the long side as kids had a tough time chewing. Pretty, though, and easy.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2013
Tasty flavor! I followed the directions pretty closely except I added 1/2 can milk and a dollop of light sour cream + sauteed mushrooms and onions. The chicken ended up overcooked and dry -- 5 hours is too long. Next time I will try putting in everything at the beginning.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2013
The meat seemed a little mushy but I did cook for 8.5 hours on Low. I also added new red potatoes, baby carrots and celery. Served with Yorkshire Pudding (from the about.com British food site).

Baked Ziti I

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2013
Apparently, this was quite good. I put it together for a potluck and left it overnight in the refrigerator. Used rigatoni as I did not have any ziti on hand. Hubby was hoping for leftovers, but there were none!

Crustless Spinach Quiche

Follow MommyFromSeattle's suggestions - I did except I cooked the spinach for a bit with the onions. It came out great! Served with crusty bread and a salad for our meatless Monday.

Meatiest Vegetarian Chili From Your Slow Cooker

Pretty good! I like the tofu - never would've thought to add to chili! Added a variety of beans as well as chick peas and corn but total number of "cans" was about the same.

Quite tasty. Followed recipe with a few exceptions. Used 2 Tbl of butter for the white sauce and added two bouillion cubes. Also used buttery round crackers instead of butter/crumb mixture.
