Baked Ziti I

Really delicious. A friend made this for us and the whole family loved it. me and the kids (ages 3 and 1) at it for days. Definitely will make! She says she made the following alterations: added a layer of fresh basil and used 1/2 lb ground beef and 1/2 lb italian sausage. So good.

Tuna Noodle Casserole II

Good recipe. Basic and satisfying. I was looking for a recipe that had mostly pantry items and this did the trick. You can make as is or dress it up. I added frozen peas to mine and it was great. Will make again.

Classic Pancakes

I had to make a few substitutions based on what I had. These were edible but not great. I used whole wheat white flour and 1% milk instead of silk. They were tasteless and salty. the texture was ok it was more the flavor. Maybe it was my substitutions?

Dave's Georgia Black Eyed Peas

Very tasty. I made some variations, only because I cook with what i have on hand. Didn't have bacon but used bacon grease. Also sauteed some carrots, celery and garlic with the onions and sprinkled very little hot pepper in (more for flavor, not enough to make it hot). My two year old even ate it!

Sweet Potato Pie II

Excellent. I did add the lemon juice and vanilla that another recipe suggested. I also baked the sweet potatoes in the oven instead of boiling for better flavor. Will make again.

Easy Pesto

Very tasty. My first time making pesto, so I chose the easiest recipe with the most basic ingredients. I had just juiced a fresh lemon and so I added some, along with a pinch of chili powder that another recipe called for. I threw in a little frozen spinach, too. Even with all these variations, it tasted great and will I will make again, using this same base recipe.

WOW! Fantastic! I don't think I can ever drink the fake stuff again. And when a bag of lemons is on sale for $2 at the end of summer, its cheaper than buying it already made.

Grandma B's Bean Soup

this was delicious! I can't wait to make it again. I did take some recommendations from other users and added salt, pepper, bay leaves and chicken stock. I didn't have ham and used a smoked sausage instead with great success. So comforting and satisfying!

Very quick and easy. I used only a teaspoon of red pepper flakes and it was still quite hot. I recommend using much less if you don't like spicy food.

Lazy Bruschetta

My guests loved this and even called a week later for the recipe. I didnt have any fresh tomatoes, so I used canned, seasoned with garlic and olive oil. I used asiago cheese bread and basil from the garden - whole leaves atop bread then topped with tomato mixture. Lazy and delicious indeed! Will definitely make again!

Easy Tilapia with Wine and Tomatoes

Very good. Hard to get my husband to eat fish, so the fresh toppings really jazzed it up. Would make it again. I made mine in the oven, by the way, as other reviewers suggested.

Chimichurri Sauce

This was only ok - I dont think I would make it again, though the failure may have been from substitutions I made. I like chimichurri sauce with cilantro, which I used from the garden. I did not have fresh parsley so I used dried flakes - I think that was my mistake.

Best Bread Machine Bread

The reviews say it all. Foolproof and delicious. I did take another reviewers advice and use 1.5 tsp of salt and it turned out great. So simple and uses stuff you always have in your pantry.

American Frittata

Loved it. Cant wait to make it again. I did change a few things, only because I cook with what I have, so no onions or ham, but I added leftover mettwursts, yellow squash, zuccini and a few tomatoes. great dish.

Firecracker Fried Chicken Drumsticks

Definitely good, not over the top, though. I marinated for almost 24 hours and it had a little kick but not much. It did have nice flavor. I might make it again, if I get a request, but the frying was a lot of work and a lot of mess.

Tomato and Basil Quiche

We really liked it. My husband, who "doesn't eat vegetables" ate half the pan. I even added some frozen spinach at the onion sautee step. Oh, and I used shallots instead of onions because we were out. I also didnt peel the tomatoes and it came out just fine, for anyone else who doesnt have time for tedium. Very good and will definitely make again to use up the fresh tomatoes and basil (and shallots:) from the garden.
