Gnocchi with Chicken, Pesto and Fresh Mozzarella

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2014
This was great! I used TJs Genova Pesto and TJs Gnocchi. The pesto was only 7oz but it still seemed like plenty. I did not have chicken broth so used some veggie broth. I also had to top it with a sprinkling of pre-shredded Mozz. since I did not have fresh available. I will absolutely make again. It was so quick and easy and delicious!

Hot Mexican Spinach Dip

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2014
I thought this was pretty awesome. I'll probably make it again without the spinach next time because my husband wasn't too fond of that part.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 19, 2014
It was just alright. I'm disappointed considering the huge number of high ratings. I made them exactly as stated, even watching the video to ensure I rolled and cut them properly. As others have experienced the filling ran out of mine. I followed suggestions of flipping the pan over to redress them in the drippings but they still lacked real flavor without the filling in the middle like it should be. The frosting also didn't taste quite as expected. It's an OK cinnamon bun but it's definitely not Cinnabon.

Cabbage Fat-Burning Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2014
I halved this recipe but otherwise followed it exactly. As it became ready to eat I did feel it lacked a bit of flavor so I added 1/2 tsp of cayenne. It was excellent after that. Couldnt stop sneaking sips of the broth as it cooled. I should also add that the broth, tomato juice, and canned green beans were all low sodium or no salt added which may account for lack of flavor before the cayenne.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2014
I made this exactly as listed except for powdered garlic instead of fresh roasted. It was excellent. I do think other reviewers were right to add a bit more cream cheese and mozzarella which I will be doing next time.

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2014
I followed this recipe almost exactly swapping only the cayenne for just a pinch of red pepper flakes. After 30 minutes of simmering it was way too watery and kind of bland. I added a tiny can of tomato paste to thicken. I was skeptical but decided to try the cinnamon and brown sugar suggested in other reviews. I only added about a 1/4 tsp of cinnamon and 1 TBSP brown sugar. It really changed the flavor but in a good way. 4 stars because even without my last minute additions its a pretty good recipe considering the calorie count.

Tim's Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2013
Great recipe. I especially appreciate that there's no "processed cheese food" in it. I did end up using about 8oz of fresh grated muenster (came to about 1 maybe 1 1/2 cups) and another 3 oz of fresh grated sharp white cheddar. So maybe a total of about 2 cups of cheese. It tasted great and the cheese melted really well. I do wish I'd taken one of the other reviewers advice and cooked the roux w/ milk a little longer because I do think it was a touch floury but it was very subtle.

Bacon-Roasted Chicken with Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2013
This was excellent. I actually think the review suggesting cooking the chicken on a wire rack above the roasting potatoes made all the difference. I sprinkled Monterey Steak seasoning on the potatoes and wished I had added a touch to the chicken. I was still very happy with the outcome.

Green Rice I

The broccoli version might be OK but I did not care for this with the spinach.

Beer Battered Fried Vegetables

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
This was surprisingly good. I've had beer batter in the past and always felt it had a strange after taste to it but not this recipe. I fried up some mushrooms and onions. They were great. Will definitely use it again.

D's Famous Salsa

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
I guess I am not a cilantro fan. I haven't cooked with it before and I really couldn't taste anything but the cilantro once I tasted this salsa. I did try to let it sit overnight hoping it would taste better but no luck. I'll still give 3 stars because if I had left the cilantro out I have a feeling this would have been OK, though nothing special.

Tuna Salad With Fresh Dill

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
This was excellent! I am not a tuna fan so I'm not even sure what possessed me to try this recipe but I'm so glad I did. I did make a couple of alterations. First, the store was out of fresh dill so I had to use dry. I can only assume fresh would have made it even better so I will certainly try that next time. Second, I was afraid of it tasting too..tuna-y? So I did add some very finely chopped onion. It was great, tasted just like my chicken salad. I would have never guessed it was Tuna. Definitely a keeper.

Simple Garlic and Basil Pesto

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2013
This recipe is excellent. I actually subbed walnuts the second time since I didn't have any pine nuts and I didn't notice any real difference. I just use walnuts now every time to saved expense. I do prefer it without the chili powder and 3/4 cup of oil instead. Really yummy!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2013
This was pretty good. I did opt to bake instead of cook on the stove top and I made the sauce with 1% milk to cut calories a bit. The sauce came out ok it just needed a little bit more cornstarch.

Easter Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2013
I did not have any cheddar so I substiuted by crumbling about 5 or 6 slices of american cheese. I don't think I put enough because I really couldn't taste it. Really great recipe though, I'm sure with the proper cheese it'll only be better.

Original Chex® Party Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2012
2 stars for recipe as is. I made two batches to use up all the cereal boxes and the first one was way too bland. I doubled the seasonings of the second batch and it was nearly perfect, though maybe a touch salty. Next time I will add an extra T of W. sauce and maybe 1 t less seasoning salt. Oh, and as so many others suggested, I went the oven route: 250 for 1 hr, stirred every 15 minutes.

Halloween Black Bat Wings

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
I ended up needing several drops of color more than called for but otherwise followed the recipe. It tasted ok, although a little unappetizing where the food coloring made the fatty parts of the skin look...well just very unappetizing. My daughter loved them but I think next time I'll try to remove the skins.

Roasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
This was excellent! I have never actually roasted garlic before and it came out perfect. I cut the loaf into slices so that I could try to get the bottom side slightly toasty too but otherwise followed the directions exactly. Even my garlic hating daughter liked it. This will definitely be my new garlic bread recipe every time I cook Italian.
