About this Cook
Well, life is a little rough right now. In 2004 I was diagnosed with lukemia/lymphoma. I had chemo for the last 4 years split into two different times. Now I am facing a stem cell transplant. I have two grown daughters and five grandchildren. I just celebrated my 46th birthday. When the transplant is over I am going to have a new birthday. Baking and cooking helps me to keep my mind on better things
My favorite things to cook
Chili, any Mexican food, BBQ'd anything. All natural no boxed anything. Wood stove cooking and baking. The list could go on for ever.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas baking and birthday dinners
My cooking triumphs
Anything I cook
My cooking tragedies
When I first moved out of my parents house I wanted to cook my first dinner on my own. I decided on center cut stuffed pork chops. I had never cooked in this oven before. I set the oven at 350 and put the chops in the oven. I went into the living room and started to read a book. About twenty minutes later I smelled something. I went into the kitchen and smoke was pouring out of the oven. I opened the door and after the smoke cleared I saw two chared to a crisp pork chops(Lesson to self... get an oven thermometer)Needless to say i called Dominoes and had dinner in thirty minutes. After I bought my new thermometer I checked my oven. 350 was actually over 550, need I say more;>)

Easy Drop Cookies
This cookie is very blah for a sugar cookie. I topped the cookie with frosting and that seemed to perk it up a bit
