Pot roast from Julia Child's book (5lb. rump roast marinated 12 hours in one bottle red wine and vegs). Have never found a better recipe for this.
My cooking tragedies
Dried up over-cooked duck, no sauce -- but there was supposed to be one.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan
We love this recipe. I made 2 small changes: Because I prefer fresh ingredients I used minced garlic instead of onion powder and I also minced some pieces of celery in my garlic press -- it works very well but you need more than the tiny bit of the celery salt the recipe calls for..

I'd say this recipe is pretty good but I've had better.

Mom's Hearty Beef Stew with Dumplings
Very tasty stew. However, I used Swanson's beef broth in a carton instead of water simply because I prefer a richer flavor to the gravy. I also added about half a cu of Merlot wine. I used all the other ingredients as given and it was excellent. My problem is with the dumplings, but maybe I jut don't understand dumplings. The recipe doesn't say how big the spoonfulls should be. Mine turned out gummy and tasted of flour. I tossed them out and served mashed potatos on the side. We enjoyed the stew just as well.
