Olde Tavern Spoon Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2012
Made this tonight. I didn't have time to let it cool so I whipped the cornmeal mixture in my stand mixer to cool it enough to add the eggs. (I saw another recipe that called for a stand mixer) It turned out light and fluffy with a custardy middle. Wonderful. We enjoyed it with butter and then with some honey for dessert. (Might add a tiny bit more salt next time.)

Pesto Lasagna

Reviewed: Jul. 26, 2012
I made this tonight for supper and it was wonderful. Put a little of the alfredo sauce in the bottom of the casserole dish as suggested and the noodles were tender and delicious. Will make again.

Blue Cheese Burgers

These were great. The only problem was that I slightly over cooked them, but they were still juicy. Planning to make them again soon. Thank you for a wonderful recipe

Chef John's Pavlova with Strawberries

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
Wonderful. I used mixed fruit: strawberries, blueberries, peaches and kiwi instead of just the strawberries cause that's what I had. My guests love it and we ate the whole thing up.

Bacon Ranch Chicken Skewers

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
These were amazing! Followed the recipe exactly except reduced the chili paste cause I had guests who don't like spicy food. They were so tender and juicy. Next time I'll add more spice. We ate them for dinner with grilled veggies and it was a wonderful meal. This will be a go to recipe for me.

Charleston Shrimp 'n' Gravy

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
This was wonderful. I didn't have green bell pepper so I substituted red bell pepper and I didn't have uncooked bacon so I used the precooked kind and a little canola oil in the pan to pick up the bacon flavor. Served it over cheese grits. The whole family loved it and we used a rubber scraper to get the last bit out of the pan!

Pizza Crust for Bread Machine

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2010
This is a wonderful pizza crust. I love the semolina flour in it. It even tasted good the day I forgot to set the machine on dough/pasta and ended up making pizza bread!! We no longer buy the store bought crusts because they can not campare with crust made from this recipe.

White BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
I made this on monday. It was soooo good. I did play with it a bit, added some garlic powder and also put a bit of liquid smoke in it. We loved it. Grilled some chicken with it and also served it with the chicken. Yummy!

Red Cabbage and Apples

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
Great recipe. Made this with German Sauerbraten by Cathy Eland and German Spaetzle by MARBALET. Felt like we were eating in a german restaurant. Used brown sugar and cider vinegar as some others had suggested and cooked it all together as soon as the cabbage and onions had wilted. Thickened it with a little cornstarch mixed with a little more vinegar and brown sugar. Really yummy and made a ton. I doubled the recipe because I was feeding 7 but had enough for a couple more. When you said generous servings you really weren't exaggerating!

German Sauerbraten

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
This was fantastic. I made it today and served it with MARBALET's recipe for German Spaetzle and ChristyJ's recipe for Red Cabbage and Apples. Made with a larger roast cause I was serving a lot of people. Roast was fork tender and perfect. Gravy was great also. Had to make more with leftover marinade and a beef boullion cube and gingersnaps cause we had lots of gravy eaters. Fantastic german meal.

German Spaetzle Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2010
These were wonderful. I followed the recipe exactly as written but I took the suggestion of another reviewer and let the dough sit about 10 minutes before using. I then used his suggestion and used a big slotted spoon to press the dough into the boiling water. . It worked perfectly. After cooking I plunged the spaetzle into ice water to firm them up and refrigerated them till I was ready to saute them. Everyone raved over them. Only thing is I had to make 3 recipes to feed 7 people. I was hoping for leftovers but only had about 1/2 cup left. We had these with German sauerbraten (by Cathy Eland) and red cabbage and apples (by ChristyJ). Restaurant quality meal from AllRecipes!

Chicken Pot Pie VIII

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2009
My daughter and I made this last night.Pressure cooked the chicken with some boullion cubes and used pearl onions instead of mushrooms. Also used ready made pie crust (just didn't have time to make the crust in the recipe) It was wonderful and got rave reviews from all who ate it.
