Pineapple Sheet Cake II

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
I followed the directions exactly - how could I not? They were simple and straight forward. The cake caved in the middle, the top browned a lot, and the cake didn't even taste good. I was trying to find a recipe that didn't call for butter/margarine/shortening as I was out - I should have just waited until I went to the grocery store. I'm sorry for the negative review, but this just wasn't good.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
EXCELLENT! I love a recipe that lets you put sour cream on top! The soup was delicious and the tortilla chips and sour cream added were great components.

Golden Lasagna

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
The final product was very good. I cooked an entire box of lasagna noodles, though. 6 was way too few. I also used garlic powder and sprinkled a fine layer over the ricotta cheese on the final layer - my husband and I are garlic fans.

Strawberry Avocado Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
If you are a fan of avocados and strawberries, you need to make this! The dressing is delicious and wasn't too sweet for me or my husband. I added feta cheese.

Pasta Milan

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2009
Absolutely amazing. I couldn't find gorgonzola cheese in my UK grocery store - so I just grated up a block of cheddar. I doubled the recipe to be sure to have leftovers. My husband and I both love asparagus and the next time I make it, I will definitely add more. I added some baked cubed chicken, too. The dish was even excellent reheated for the next two days (doubling the recipe gave us 6 servings). Simply delicious.

Aloha Quick Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
This recipe is fantastic! I was running low on butter and substituted half the amount with apple sauce. I also did half white/half light brown sugar. I used 2 ripe bananas and added the pineapple and 1/2 c coconut. The bread was delicious and moist and I will make this bread again.

Cinnamon Sugar Butter Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
The recipe was very easy and the cookies came out nicely. Mine didn't take quite as long to bake up as the recipe calls for. They are the best on the first day - crunchy on the outside, cakey on the inside - just like all the other reviews reported.

Blueberry Orange Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
This bread is delicious! My husband loves blueberries and I love citrus and we both love this bread. I added a full cup of frozen blueberries and it came out perfectly. It baked up in an hour and we've enjoyed it for breakfast all weekend. Thanks!

Gingered Pork Chops in Orange Juice

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2008
I found this recipe about 5 minutes before I was going to start cooking up some pork steaks for dinner. I wanted something a bit different, and found this simple and tasty recipe! It worked out beautifully! I changed the recipe a bit to yield just two servings. I'm not that big of an onion fan, but after baking in the orange juice for 45 minutes, the onions were so delicious! I poured a bit of the orange juice sauce over basmati rice and served it with these very delicious pork steaks. Excellent!

Banana Peanut Butter Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
As many of the reviews suggested, I increased the peanutbutter and decreased the flour. I baked mine for 85 minutes and covered the loaf with foil after 45 minutes. I added 1/2 c of chocolate chips and I wish I hadn't. The peanutbutter and banana flavors are good. The bread is very moist. I gave it 4 stars for the cooking time - even after 85 minutes, I feel I could have left it in longer.

Mozzarella Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
My husband and I are living in the UK and chose to make this delicious meatloaf for our own Thanksgiving celebration. We used quite a bit more cheese than the recipe called for as we both really love cheese. We also used tomato paste instead of sauce. It was very, very good! Thanks.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
These were absolutely amazing. I made these for Thanksgiving this year and have been enjoying the leftovers in the days since. After reading some of the reviews, I went ahead and made the crust with carrot cake (as it was the only cake mix available to me in a UK grocery store) and left out the spice in the crust. I used quite a bit more melted butter than called for to get the consistency correct. I also used a 13x9 pan as I wanted the pumpkin layer a bit thicker. I left out the nuts as I'm not a fan. My husband and I absolutely LOVED the bars. It's a fool proof recipe!!

Pumpkin Tea Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
I made this loaf this afternoon and love the citrus flavor - a new spin on the traditional pumpkin bread. My bread took quite a while to firm up. I put foil over the top to prevent further browning. Maybe it was just my oven, but it definitely took much longer than an hour. Not quite as moist as I had hoped. The final product is still tasty and definitely worth trying.

Apple Breakfast Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
I made this recipe following the recommendations for adding 2 Tbs oil and substituting half the butter for applesauce. It turned out moist and delicious. I shredded two Bramley apples over the bowl and the juice probably added a bit of moisture, too. I left out the cloves and doubled the cinnamon. I baked mine as muffins and it yielded 14 good sized muffins. Baked up perfectly in about 23 minutes. I will definitely make it again.

Banana Coconut Loaf

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
This was the first recipe I've ever tried from allrecipes with HUGE success. I took the suggestions from others to reduce almond extract to 1/4 tsp and add a tsp of cinnamon and a tsp of vanilla. I ended up using 4 medium sized bananas which yielded slightly more than 1 c. I left out the cherries and nuts and baked for an hour. It was absolutely perfect. My husband and I both loved this recipe and I will definitely use it again. It was delicious warmed up on its own or with butter or cream cheese.

Chili For Two

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
This was my first attempt at making chili and both my husband and I loved this! It is definitely an easy and confidence-boosting recipe. I doubled the recipe so we'd have leftovers. I also used more beef than the recipe called for and as I like cinnamon, used cinnamon to taste. I let it simmer for an hour and it turned out perfectly. I paired it with a simple beer bread that was perfect for dunking in the chili.

Beer Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2008
This is just another raving review; a super easy and tasting recipe! I followed the suggestions for 1/3 c sugar and melted butter on top. Mine baked up perfectly in 45 minutes. It was served with chili - and so glad there's leftovers for tonight!
