Sweet and Sour Pork III

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2015
I just cooked this Sweet n Sour Pork recipe. It turned out very good.I marinated the pieces of pork one half in salt the other half in Soy Sauce.I used two packages of pork and mixed it up. That way the meat didn't come out to salty.I eliminated the Ketchup as the sound of it makes my stomach turn.Instead I used red food coloring.I used 21/4 cups of apple Cidar Vinagar. Vinegar has a pretty strong kick to it.Next time I will only use 1/4 cup.I followed everything else. This recipe is a keeper.I cant wait to make it again.I served it with fried Rice.My brother went back for seconds.

Blueberry Lemon Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2014
I and my mom made this Lemon/Blueberry bread. That bread was so good until I couldn't stop eating it.I forgot to put the Lemon zest in.I think the zest might make the bread bitter. This recipe is a keeper.

Stuffed Pepper Soup I

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2013
I made this soup.I used ground beef.I browned the beef and added the garlic, onions and both halves of Green and Yellow Bell peppers.I added the Bell Peppers when the meat was browned. I used about six cups water for the soup.I used Ragu Spagehetti sauce instead of tomato sauce.I used a teaspoon of beef bouillon. I transfered the hamburger mixture to the soup pot.I added some kernel corn and green beans.I seasoned the soup with basil and Oregano and one bay leaf, and 2 tablespoons brown sugar.I used some flour to thicken the soup up.I let the soup cook for about 20 minutes.I cooked the rice by itself.I served with Mozzeralla cheese. the soup came out perfect.I look forward to making it again. Its better to serve the soup over the rice.

Healthier Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
My mom and I just made a pot of this potato soup for dinner. It is very good.I didn't have any chopped Ham so I used Hillshire Sausage instead.I used can cut green beans because I didn't have any fresh ones. The amount of vegetables were lowered because of the amount of juice.I also used less butter and flour.I added a tablespoon of corn starch.I also added some whipping cream.I seasoned to taste with salt pepper and seasoning salt. This recipe is certainly a keeper.

Ambrosia Fruit Salad

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
I made this Ambrosia Fruit Salad. My family and I liked it.I used a can of fruit cocktail.I didn't have any Maraschino Cherries.I added one Banana and some Blueberries.I also added the Cinamon and Nutmeg. The only thing I did different was to add some sugar and vanilla flavoring which gave it a really good taste. Next time I will use tropical Yogurt instead of the Sour Cream.I will be making this dish again

Slow Cooked Corned Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2009
I tried corned Beef in Beer I used a bottle of Guinesses.I tested it out on some deli style corned beef. The Corned Beef flavor wasn't as flavored as I like that meat to be.After adding the meat to the beer in boiling water. The corned beef had no taste.I didn't want to waste a hole Brisket.I dont really see how this recipe could be good.I will not attempt this again.

Baked Fish with Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
I made this recipe. It came out very good.I used Old Bay Seasoning along with salt and pepper to season the fish. When my mom made the sauce she just used flour and milk, and added baby shrimp.Baby shrimp go best with Red Snapper fish. There was a little Sherry Wine added to the sauce. We also added a touch of lemon juice to the sauce also. Before pouring the sauce over the fish it is best to drain the juice from baking, other wise the Monzarella cheese will not brown. We used Monzarella cheese instead of Parmasan. It was a very good dish will make again.

Eggnog Cheesecake III

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2009
This was a very good Cheesecake. My whole family liked it.I took the tip from one reviewer, and added 1/4 teaspoon each of cinnamon and Nutmeg, and sugar to the Graham Cracker crust, and the mixture. After I made the crust I just put it in the freezer. The crust doesn't need to go in the oven.Putting the crust in the oven will get the crust into the mixture of the cake.I didn't have any rum,so I added 1/4 cup Kahula and 1/2 cup Eggnog,to the mixture.I also put a pan of water directely under the Cheesecake,to keep it from cracking.I couldn't taste the Eggnog.I think the Kahula may have overrode it.I am going to try to make another Eggnog Cheesecake, before all the Eggnog leaves the stores. This recipe is really to die for.

Rita's Sweet Holiday Baked Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2008
I just loved the glaze to this ham.The ham came out nice and moist with the meat falling off the bone.We wanted a ham we could slice.I had an uncooked ham.Next time I will not cover the ham. When you cover the ham it ruins the glaze.I will only cook the ham for 3 hours. If you want to thicken the glaze just mix 3 tbs.Of cornstarch with water. you may add more cornstarch until glaze is the consistency of German Chocolate Cake Frosting.Remove from heat let glaze cool. The glaze will thicken more as it cools. When the glaze is cool spoon over ham and use a basting brush.I will definetely be making this glaze again.

Pork Chops with Mushroom Onion Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
This was a delicious recipe. Now I gave this recipe two stars because of the amount of seasoning in it.You have to use more than two teaspoons of salt to season anything.I just seasoned the meat with salt and pepper and baited it in a little flour before frying. When pork chops were frying I cut up some regular onions and garlic to flavor the meat. After meat was done browning I transfered it to the Mushroom gravy. I added some seasoning salt and pepper to the Mushroom soup.Towards the end of cooking I topped the pork chops with green onions. The green onions gave this dish a really good flavor. This recipe worked well with thin cut pork chops which I used.

Pound Cake III

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
This was a very good Pound Cake. At first I thought using shortning along with butter was a little much. I noticed when I cut the cake,it was hard to cut and tough on the outside but all so moist on the inside.I made a nice Vanilla glaze drizzle. My family enjoyed the cake.My mother said the Cake is more like a Coffee Cake, and that it would go good with Coffee or Cocoa.

Fantastic Crab Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
I made this Crab Dip and it was really good.I used 1/2 cup Chives and Onion Cream cheese,as I only had one can of crab meat.I used only one green onion.I used some Old Bay Seasoning and some Lawrys seasoning salt.I also added some extra lemon juice.Next time I think I will omit the sour cream and lemon juice, unless I am using quite a bit of cream cheese.Dip is supposed to be thick. My dip was on the sloopy side, but it left a mouth watering taste in my mouth.

Mexican Beef Supreme

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2008
This was a very good dish. The only things that I did different was to boil the stew meat in beef broth. I transfered the stew meat to a skillet and cooked the vegetables along with the meat. You need the flavor of the onion and garlic in the meat.I used 1/4 cup lime juice. I poured the lime juice in the one can of chili verde sauce that covered the meat.I only had one package of stew meat so one can of salsa was sufficient.I used this meat for soft Tacos and served it with homemade spanish rice.Everyone loved it.
