About this Cook
I've been cooking basics for my family for years but now I'm getting into new recipes, new types of cuisine, new skills - and loving it! Even better, I always thought the kids wouldn't like "weird" foods but it turns out that they do:)
My favorite things to cook
Stir frys, desserts, "good ol'" comfort foods like turkey dinner....
My cooking triumphs
Cooking a full turkey dinner for 14 of my friends who were unable to get home for Thanksgiving when we were in university. Trying new recipes for the first time at a dinner party and they turn out (I was always too afraid to do that, so I trust myself more now).
My cooking tragedies
My first ever chicken - I cooked it up-side down:) Apple pie - still crunchy in the middle. Lasagna with WAY too much cheese (yes, it's possible). Oh, so many to count:)

Caribbean Fish With Mango Salsa
Very good recipe - good enough for guests! For the salss, I added 1 seeded and chopped jalapeno pepper and it added a bit of heat that we like. Very fresh tasting and the fish pan-fried (without oil) to a nice golden colour. Yum!

Plum Buckle
Made this withfresh plums that had to be used up. OMG it was delicious! I served it warm with a bit of whipped cream on the side. This is definitely a keeper!

Pineapple Fried Quinoa
We didn't expect much from this recipe, as quinoa doesn't have a lot of flavour on its own but has my hubby said "It was the surprise star of the meal!". Everything worked well together and even after a day in the fridge, the quinoa didn't get all dried out like rice sometimes does. We would serve this to guests!
