Sugar Cookie Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2013
Just the consistency I'm used to - spreadable but not runny. I'll use this recipe next time I need basic sugar cookie frosting.

English Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2013
These taste good, but they don't taste like any English muffin I've ever had. They're like soft white bread with a crunchy top and bottom. I'm going to try another recipe hoping to get the nooks and crannies inside.

Pineapple Cheese Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2012
I make this unusual dish every Christmas and Thanksgiving. People often mistake it for macaroni & cheese, and are usually weirded out when I tell them what it is, but I love it and so does my family. It's an addictive salty/sweet combination.

Scottish Shortbread IV

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2012
Easy, basic, dangerously delicious. This shortbread was dense, tender and quite popular. I doubled it and baked it in two round cake pans, then covered one with caramel & chocolate. The plain turned out just as delicious as the jazzed up version.

Creamy Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2012
Easy, cheap, yummy, not too sweet. I didn't add all of the milk so that it would be stiff enough to pipe onto cupcakes, and it worked beautifully. I will definitely use this recipe again.

Cheeseburger Soup I

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2012
This soup was fine, but I probably won't make it again. I found it bland and the meat seemed unnecessary.

Crispy Potato Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
Just made these for the second time and my husband and I love them! They come out very crispy on the outside and creamy in the middle. I can't believe how flavorful they are too, from just a few spices. I just wish they were quicker to make. It takes me about an hour from start to finish. Maybe that's just because I triple the recipe and I only have a pan big enough to cook two at once, so frying time takes a while. We eat them with sour cream, but I would love them with eggs. Biggest tip: once I have everything combined, I transfer it to a colander and rest it over a bowl. The potatoes continue to release water.

Breadsticks with Parmesan Butter

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2011
I love these breadsticks, but I gave the recipe 4 stars because I had to add way more flour to make the dough dry enough to handle. I mixed them in my stand mixer and just kept adding flour until the dough pulled away from the bottom. It was probably more than a cup extra. They are fairly sweet, so you could cut the sugar down, but several people told me they liked the sweetness.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2011
Way too much vanilla! Other than that, quite good. I especially like the texture after leaving them in a plastic bag overnight. I used margarine and the results were indistinguishable between before refrigerating the dough and after.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies III

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2011
I found this recipe because I wanted to make cookies, but had no eggs. I gave it a 4 because it's not amazing as far as cookies go, but for cookies without eggs it's really a 5. I was so impressed. Trust the reviews that say that when they look undercooked, they're probably just right if you leave them on the pan a while. I may not make these when I have eggs around, but when I don't I won't run to the store, I'll make these again.

Asian Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
Yum! I left out the pickled ginger and water chestnuts because I had none and it still seemed like a complete dish. Like other reviewers, I would like to try this with other kinds of ground meat like pork or turkey. I will definitely make this again.

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2011
I really love the flavors of this dish. I didn't have fresh ginger, so I added a little powder and I used angel hair pasta since I had no Asian noodles. My husband told me not to be hurt if he didn't like this, as he never likes Asian noodles that much- then he ate three servings :) I would not leave out the chile paste, the heat is nice. My only complaint is that the noodles cooled off and got sticky very quickly, but that may have to do with the fact that I used a different kind of noodle.

Garlic Cheddar Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2010
Wow. My husband asked me to put this in my regular rotation. While the chicken breasts were still mostly frozen, I sliced them horizontally to make several very thin breasts. The thinnest parts were the yummiest, so I will definitely do that again. Served with winter squash and Pioneer Woman's crash hot potatoes.

Mujaddara Arabic Lentil Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
I am American and don't have a particularly adventurous palate, but my husband and I loved this dish. Next time I make it, I will cover the lentils while they cook. Too much water evaporated, resulting in a little scorching on the bottom. We didn't have any yogurt, which other reviewers recommended, so we ate it with sour cream, which was delicious. I chopped the onion instead of slicing it, as one reviewer suggested, and I'm glad I did. Next time I will cook more onions; they were so good. My husband cooked them with a little paprika and garlic salt. Next time I will serve this with some kind of flat bread.

Just as yummy as the creamy chicken enchiladas I'm used to and much faster to assemble. Freezes well. I use this recipe all the time.

After-Thanksgiving Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2010
My husband and I really liked this. There wasn't much meat at all left on my turkey, but it still worked. I didn't give it five stars only because I don't like how thick it was. I thinned it with extra chicken broth and next time I will cut down on the butter and flour significantly.

Yummy, but not that different from plain soft-scrambled eggs. I won't go to the trouble next time.

Fast and Easy Tofu Lo-Mein

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
My picky husband particularly loves this stuff. In fact, I couldn't find the recipe after the first time I made it and he was heartbroken. Kind of silly for such a simple recipe, but he loves it. I leave out the tofu.

Margarita Cake with Key Lime Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
I used limeade concentrate instead of margarita mix, and maybe that ruined it. It was soooo sweet I couldn't eat more than a bite.

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I just used this recipe to make bread for the first time ever on my own, and it worked great. My husband is crazy about it. I think I'll try less sugar next time to make it less sweet.
