Egg Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
This is a classic noodle recipe... thick and al dente when you boil them. I doubled my batch so I would have plenty of leftovers. I used two boxes of chicken stock and a can of cream of chicken to thicken. My husband loved these.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2011
Very moist and delicious pumpkin bread. Added 1/2 tsp additional cinnamon and 1/2 tsp of allspice. Drizzled with a homemade vanilla glaze. The quality is like what you would find in a bakery.

Chicken Enchiladas

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2011
This is a good recipe base, but I made a few changes. Omitted the refried beans, chicken soup, and sour cream. Added a few more chicken breasts and cooked with taco seasoning and cherry tomatoes from the garden. After rolling tortillas I always toast them in a hot skillet a few minutes before baking.

Homemade Refrigerator Pickles

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
Very good but too sweet and I even reduced the sugar by half a cup. I added some crushed black pepper and a pinch of dill weed. Next time, will use only one cup of sugar.

Fresh Strawberry Pie I

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2011
This is a perfect end to any cookout. I smashed about six strawberries and had them cook with the cornstarch, which added a nice flavor. Next time will slice the strawberries, because it was almost impossible to eat with a fork.

Quick Quiche

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
Don't get me wrong, this quiche had a wonderful flavor. I baked it ten minutes longer than written and the eggs didn't seem to set up. Next time, I will add 1 cup of milk and see if that works better.

Amazing Pecan Coffee Cake

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
Made this for Mother's Day brunch and everyone loved it. My grandmother, who is a wonderful cook, even asked for the recipe. The only negative is that the cake was soggy after two days. I think next time I might reduce the sour cream 1/4 cup.

Classic Waffles

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
These waffles are so light and flavorful. Please don't skip the step of warming the milk it is a way to incorporate all the ingredients without overmixing. If I have fresh lemon I like to add the zest to the batter for more flavor and I always add about 3 tbsp more sugar.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
For some reason homemade biscuits intimidated me, but not after I found this recipe. These are so easy, and well worth getting the rolling pin out. They really are huge, and have a great flavor and texture. Don't tweak this recipe they are perfect as written.

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
My brother can be a bit of a food snob, but he insists that I make this cheesecake every year for his birthday. I've tried oreo, turtle, m&m, lemon raspberry variations and have all gotten rave reviews.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
This caramel corn is to die for! Make sure you only boil caramel for five minutes though. I thought it looked too runny and cooked it for six minutes, so mine was a little bit chewy. It keeps fresh in a ziplock bag for at least five days... well that's how long it lasted in my house.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2010
Finally found my tried and true sugar cookie recipe. I made the first batch exactly as written and found the dough very hard to roll. The second time, I refrigerated for 1 hour and found it was much easier to manipulate. Instead of using flour to prevent from sticking I used powdered sugar which helps the taste.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
These are really good. I was worried these would stick to the pan becuase they were really sticky when dropping them. I used parchment paper, and didn't have any problem getting them off the cookie sheet. Frosted with my own cream cheese icing.

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
These turned out very nicely for my first attempt. I added chocolate chips to the mix which was a nice addition. Seemed like it was missing something, so I will try adding some peanut butter and m&ms next time.

Blueberry Oat Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
These muffins had a wonderful flavor and texture. I used one blueberry and cream oatmeal packet along with 1/4 cup of oatmeal. Sprinkled a little oatmeal and cinnamon sugar on top. Also added 2 tsp of vanilla for flavor. My new favorite blueberry muffin recipe.

Chocolate Chip Breakfast Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2010
I like those packaged ones on my drive to work in the morning, but these are so much better. Added some hazelnuts for some texture and added 1/4 more wheat flour. Thanks for the recipe!

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
If I could give it a higher review I would. Every girls night I'm required to bring this dip or they won't let me come. Like others, I put the whole package of cream cheese in it. It keeps perfectly in the crockpot on low.

Sweet Restaurant Slaw

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
Finally found my staple slaw recipe. Watch out though it is too easy to eat the whole bowl at once. I don't like buying the bagged coleslaw mix because it goes bad too quickly. So I chop up a small head of cabbage with a few carrots for color.

Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
Was worried about the consistency of these burgers and for good reason. It was like eating a refried bean sandwich. After I tested one added some rice and shredded carrots, which helped some but not enough. Will have to use the rest as bean burritos. Obviously, a recipe for many I just didn't care for them.

No Bake Cookies III

I followed this recipe exactly, and these didn't set up well for me. They tasted great but had to freeze in order to eat them.
