About this Cook
I am trying to expand my repertoire of recipes that EVERYONE in the family will eat! I grew up working in restaurants, but now I enjoy cooking for my favorite people of all in my own kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I think my very favorite thing to cook changes daily; it's whatever the kids help me with! Right now we make a batch of muffins from scratch every week, changing up the recipe. Our favorite thus far is our Harvest Muffins.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making and decorating Gingerbread Boys on Thanksgiving morning!
My cooking triumphs
I think my biggest triumph is kind of silly; it was learning to use the crock pot because I'd always been afraid to for some reason!
My cooking tragedies
The very first time I ever cooked for the man who was to be my husband I had just moved into a new apartment and tried to make a whole chicken. The inside was still frozen and the outside almost caught on fire. I learned later (after I called the landlord) that the stove had been broken and only one coil worked and had sparked. But it scared me away from whole chickens for good =)

Easy Sugar Cookies
Came out a little dry, but were pretty good. Made sure my butter was nice and soft, as I have always found that to be the trick with sugar cookies. But all in all, I'd use it again ... maybe adding 1 TB of butter more.

Buttermilk Pancakes II
Totally a favorite in our family! Sometimes we add a tablespoon of vanilla or almond extract, but the classic recipe is awesome as is!

Glazed Corned Beef
This was good. Cooked the corned beef in my crock pot and then moved to oven for 30 minutes with glaze, as per other directions. Did add some carrots and potatoes and they were jazzed up by the glaze. I'll save the recipe and pull out in March for a bit o' the Irish in our menu.
