On a Journey In India
About this Cook
Flight attendant by trade, professional cook in my dreams.
My favorite things to cook
I tend to enjoy cooking and eating stews and soups. I must have been a peasant in a former life. The aromas lingering in the kitchen all day, nothing better.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family ate pretty simply, probably due to the recent Irish immigrant status. My favorite tradition is one that me and 2 girlfriends started 23 years ago which is baking Christmas cookies together.
My cooking triumphs
No doubt a 10 pound stuffed red snapper that I made for a Caribbean Christmas party a few years ago. I hear about it often. Next year a remake!
My cooking tragedies
Too many to list-I'm adventurist, but the worst was a barley soup that stuck to the bowls! One of the few meals I excused the kids from eating.

Smokey Clamicken Chowder
Really enjoyed this, so did my husband who doesn't generally like clams. Terrific mix of flavors, seems like an unusual pairing. I also used milk to lighten it up a bit and turkey bacon. Makes great leftovers.

Kale and Banana Smoothie
What a great way to get a good portion of greens down the hatch. I was pleasantly surprised by this recipe. I really liked it, reminds me of adding wheat grass. My husband thought it was too 'grassy' but that's just not his cup of tea.

Basic Chicken Stock
Logan, adding the egg and shell to clear the broth is my favorite cooking tip of the year. I have been telling everyone! My broth is crystal clear now and I have made it twice this month. It takes the greasy flavor out and you taste the chicken instead, and I'm guessing it must lower the calories as well. Bravo!
