60-year old homemaker, married to a great Southern gentleman, one stepson, one grand daughter, two beautiful black 7-year old male American shorthair kitties. I enjoy 4 days weekly at our neightborhood YMCA taking part in water exercise classes and chair aerobics, both of which help my aching arthritic bones. We enjoy dancing to Oldies music & watching favorite old movies.
My favorite things to cook
I simply love it all... from the sublime to the ridiculous!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian heritage dishes include: Turta, a bread made with sharp Italian cheeses and (oh, no!) lard; Pasatini, a soup with a simple chicken stock & noodles made from bread crumbs, pecorino-romano cheese & a dozen eggs; Stuffed Olives which entails pitting colossal green olives, making balls from 3 different meats, wrapping the pitted olives around the meatballs, tri-breading them and deep frying them until golden brown.
My cooking triumphs
My first ever cheesecake. It was a Cranberry Cheesecake made for our annual Christmas dinner. Friends dropped by & the best cook in the group looked at the cake and had to ask if I had really made it!
My cooking tragedies
Mint chocolate dessert souffle. I was 24 years old and had no idea a souffle had to served immediately!
