About this Cook
NEVER TRUST A SKINNY COOK!! That's my motto-- I LOVE to cook, good food too!! I love to use natural ingredients, never anything from a package!! I am a massage therapist and I am certified to teach yoga-- so I also love to cook healthy whole foods. I read up on health issues and have been working in the wellness field for over 10 years... and teaching myself how to cook along the way. I have a pretty good knowledge about the health benefits of certain foods and herbs, and incorporate this in my cooking. I always trust my nose, and I believe that food should stimulate all your senses!! And everything should made with LOVE, LOVE, LOVE as the first ingredient!!! You can taste it every time!!
My favorite things to cook
Salads, salads, salads.... I have NEVER eaten out and had a salad as good as what I can do in my kitchen... not even at a high-end place. I make all my own dressings, too--- its so easy!! I love to top my salads with broiled salmon, blackened tuna bites, grilled swordfish, or my fabulous crab cakes... My new obsession is soups... Mostly veggie soups like potato leek with fennel, portabella mushroom, pumpkin soup. I love to cook big breakfasts like french toast, egg scrambler with veggies and sausage, pancakes with cinnamon, oats, nuts and seeds... and big dinners, too, like honey mustard chicken with roasted red potatoes with rosemary, pasta with homemade pesto or my tomato sauce. I make killer meatballs and wicked good hamburgers once in a while. And my sweetie LOVES my oatmeal chocolate chip cookies!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a big Staten Island family-- and we ALL get together for the holidays. I am looking forward to when I get to host a big event-- with my mom helping, of course!! Her father was a butcher, so my mom knows how to pick the right meats and poultry and prepare it great, every time!! No dry turkey for us!! ;-)
My cooking triumphs
Well, I met this guy online, and chatted via email... We met out at a local bar and had a great time getting to know each other. Later that same night him and a few of my friends and I headed back to my place to hang out. This guy was hungry, so I heated up some meatballs that I had made a day or two before. He loved them so much.... that we have been a happy couple for almost 4 years!! Its true... The way to a guy's heart is through his tummy... and I cook for him all the time, too!!
My cooking tragedies
none yet... (fingers crossed!)

Cinnasweet Pumpkin Seeds
I varied this one a bit-- added some pumpkin pie spice, a pinch of cayenne pepper, and a pinch of cumin, just for an enhancement of spice to the sweet. And I cut the cooking time down significantly, too. I waited to put on the extra sugar until they were done but still warm and sticky. Thanks-- They were wonderful!!

Kettle Corn
oh wow... great!! I used extra virgin olive oil and salted it at the bottom of the pot, then placed in the kernels. When they began to pop, I THEN added the sugar, and shook it like crazy... oh my, it was bangin'! I used to wait til there was a street fair in town to get kettle corn... now I just walk in to the kitchen!! Thanks!
