Ganache I

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2002
Great glaze. I put in a dollop of corn syrup to make it shiny. It gets hard in the fridge, so don't refrigerate if you are using it the same day. Tasty on ice cream too...REAL tasty.

Shaggy's Manhattan

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2002
That Shaggy sure knows his drinks! This cocktail is a little sweet from the vermouth, but it packs a punch with all that liquor! The cherry makes a nice presentation, but I usually leave it out.

Shaggy's Perfect Martini

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2002
Everybody has their own opinion on what they consider a "perfect" martini. I'm actually not that picky as long as it's not too watered-down. I would call this recipe very nearly perfect. I usually swirl my martini (in the shaker) until my fingers start to freeze, which might be a little less than 30 seconds. If there is any left in the shaker, I pour it into a spare glass, so it doesn't get too watered-down with melting ice. Lately, I've been using anchovy-stuffed olives which I find quite delightful.

Simple Syrup

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2002
I use this syrup to brush on cake layers for extra moisture. I just flavor it to taste with whatever - whiskey, vanilla, almond, liqueur - whatever! I store mine in the refrgerator since it seems to get modly if left out.

Vietnamese Style Vegetarian Curry Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2001
Wowie! The most exotic thing we get out here is beans and rice, so I wasn't too sure what to expect. I decided to make it thicker like a stew, like it says in the description. I once had curry in a Indian restaurant, but this kind seems kind of fresh and creamy in comparison. Really good! My picky eater said it was too spicy, but I have a cast iron stomach, so I thought it was perfect! I had to go into the city to get some of the stuff, but now that I have it, I can't wait to make this again!

Joe Froggers

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2001
These are cutout cookies that are real soft and squishy-like, so they might not work so good with ginger boys and girls. They are not overly sweet, so maybe a light frosting would be a good add on. These are real easy and make the house smell festive.

Jamaican Beans and Rice Dish

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2001
I hope nobody tries this recipe with only 1 cup of coconut milk as the total liquid. You're probably supposed to cook the beans and rice separately, then add the other ingredients.

Grilled Spicy Lamb Burgers

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2001
I don't normally eat lamb 'cause they're so darn cute running around bleating and what not, but I made an exception with this recipe. The green herbs looked real pretty and tasted even better. Not real strong and gamey like you'd expect. It's a little dry without some kind of dressing, so I poured on some Italian dressing from a bottle. Overall, not baaaad.

Shaggy's Hana Bay Frootie Joy

Reviewed: May 9, 2001
This recipe makes me feel warm all over! Nothing goes better with rum than coconut and pineapple (except maybe ginger ale!) If you don't have fresh coconut pineapple juice, you could always use frozen, or mix together some from a can. This is drink is so good, it makes me want to HOLLER!
