A Vegetable Wedding Cake!!
About this Cook
I started cooking when I was a child. My mother went to work when I was 9yrs old and as the oldest girl in a faimly of 7, it was my duty to do the cooking. My grandmother who was a professional cook and my mother had taught me how. I remember, when I was about 6 learning how to make "Fin & Hattie" and "Steak and Kidney Pie" The vast variety of foods cooked in our home gave me the enjoyment of learning and trying new and different foods along with the basic home cooking and baking skills. I developed the ability to taste and go home and replicate what I had seen or eaten. These experiences lead to my long career in the food industry and I was able to teach cooking for the city I lived in several years ago. Cooking provides an immediate satisfaction and pride in your achievements and there is always something new to learn!
My favorite things to cook
Unique and different foods from around the world! Baking and Family dinners.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All of them, just being together is my favorite tridition! Oh yes lets not forget the baked beans I made and was there after designated to bring to every family function for years after! It became so tedious that I had to ask "Can I please bring something else!" lol They said "Yes as long as you bring the beans too!!" If anyone wants the resipe let me know, but it will come with a warning !!!
My cooking triumphs
Being able to teach cooking and making events enjoyable for people on the most important events in their lives!
My cooking tragedies
Oh my goodness, lol I think it was the time I spent making the perfect wedding cake. It was so heavy I had to ask my foster son and his friend to carry it, well--- lol yes, as you may have guessed, they droped it on the way to the wedding!!! I did come up with a quick fix lol and told the bride if anyone got a crispy bite, it was just some of the candied flowers that got mixed in with the frosting. She said it looked great but was hoping for more color, lol I told her it use to have it! Needless to say , there was no charge for that one!!!
