Mystic Tree
About this Cook
I am a mother of 4 children (3 are step children), and a wife of a wonderful man. I am currently a homemaker, and have been continuously pursuing an education in the field of Psychology.
My favorite things to cook
I am probably considered an intermediate cook. I like to try new recipes from magazines and this website, as well as good 'ol family recipes. I make a really good meatloaf, sausage and orzo dish, spaghetti, potato soup, sauteed vegetables, breads; really, anything I make seems to turn out good. I love to bake, broil and crock. I am just starting to learn how to use the BBQ.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our family goes "all out" with Thanksgiving-this is my favorite gathering. We all bring our own recipes. So it's more of a big pot luck. My family's cooking influence mostly comes from the Irish, and Italian.
My cooking triumphs
I made a turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, sauteed green beans, and dessert for a total of 9 people. Keep in mind, I've only been cooking since 2007. I cook on a regular basis for 4-5.
My cooking tragedies
11/5/09: I tried to save a dollar by buying "Nucoa Margarine" instead of Parkay to use in my ingredients for Nestle Toll House Choc. Chip Cookies... HUGE mistake. All my proportions were right, but I guess Nucoa is wayyyy too oily. The cookies were a nightmare. I couldn't stop laughing at how they turned out!

Southern Peach Cobbler
I made this recipe as quoted, and it came out a bit too oily. I am not sure if 1/2c is too much butter, or if I should drain all syrup from the peaches. Either way, this peach cobbler was very good served with marionberry ice cream!

Apple-Cranberry Crisp
This was INCREDIBLE! I just didn't have any pecans, but it was still absolutely delicious! My 3 year old son loved it so much, he licked the bowl clean!
