Faux Jerk Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2009
I love this recipe! It is one of my absolute favorites and I make it whenever I get a chance. Always juicy, tender and delicious. I mix up all the ingredients and let the chicken marinate for about 24 hours. I substitute chili powder for the bonnet chili peppers because I can't get those at any of my local grocery stores; other than that, I make everything as directed. As sides, I serve long grain wild rice and fried plantains (Alton Brown's "Good Eats" recipe). I love love LOVE this meal!

Deviled Eggs

These are delicious!! I found this recipe while searching for any recipe for deviled eggs, and I happened to read AbarJbar's review of this and three other similar recipes. Abar's review led me here, and I am so happy it did! These are going to be my go-to deviled eggs from now on!

Butternut Squash Bisque

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2011
I loved this soup! I've made it several times now, and I think the most recent making turned out the best. I more or less followed the recipe as is, but I made a few additions: I sauted the onions with some garlic and crumbled bacon; I oven-roasted the squash; and I added some cayan pepper to taste (it didn't take much!). This soup is especially delicious when eaten with a grilled cheese sandwich. Such a tasty recipe! :)

Very yummy and easy (except for the squeezing part!!) recipe. Loved it! (And it's even good if you substitute lemons!) I used the Graham Cracker Crust II from this site and it came out great. I also served the pie with fresh whipped cream.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Delicious! I heeded the recommendations by others and used evaporated milk instead of regular milk, and 1 tsp of vanilla instead of 1/2 tsp. I also left out the streusel topping and opted for marshmallows instead. Will definitely make this again! So good!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2009
Delicious! I heeded the suggestions and added 1 T vanilla and 1 tsp of cinnamon. I also brushed egg whites on the bottom crust to prevent it from getting soggy, but that didn't seem to work...probably something I did wrong, but the pie was wonderful regardless. :) Will definitely make again!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
The first time I made this, I gave it 3 stars because I wasn't real satisfied with it. However, I didn't want to give up on it, so I decided to give it a second go last night with several a few changes based on user suggestions. The results were soooo yummy! I used chicken broth instead of water, and rolled out my little store-brand biscuits to less than 1/4" thick before slicing them into one-inch squares. Also, because I have to leave out onions and other veggies since my hubby is a picky eater, I added one or two tsp of onion powder as well as some salt-free Cavenders (I thought it was salty enough with the cream of chicken soup) to add more flavor. I used leftover Thanksgiving turkey instead of chicken, but it'll be good with chicken too. Because the dumplings were rolled out thin, they only needed to cook for about 30 minutes on the crockpot's high setting. Absolutely delicious results! Will definitely make again. :)

Chocolate Crinkles II

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
Delicious! They taste like little brownies! The only change I made to the recipe was to use 3/4 of the called-for sugar instead of the full amount. They were a cinch to make, and I find it very confusing how so many people are having a runny batter with these cookies. I mean, there's hardly any liquid in them. The batter was very thick for me even before I refrigerated it overnight. I know I didn't mix it wrong because I made my first batch, then mixed up another half batch because I didn't think one was enough, and both came out the same consistency. (The 1.5 recipe yielded 75 cookies, by the way.) I coated the 1-inch cookie balls well with the powdered sugar and baked them on the second to top rack for 10 minutes. They came out perfect! So yummy!! Will definitely make again.

Per other reviews, I used 2 tsp vanilla and maybe a half tsp of almond extract (I just eyeballed the almond). I ended up baking it for nearly two hours. It turned out delicious, though! Very good pound cake!!
