Chicken Marsala Florentine

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
Simple, flavorful, fast. I'm a huge fan of this recipe and take pleasure in adding it to the "serve to guests" section of my recipe notebook. I prepared it exactly as written and both my husband and I spent the entire meal oo'ing and ah'ing. The marsala flavor is a touch strong (I'm sure it depends on the label--this one was aged 10 years so maybe it's more potent), but i think we'll just cut it with a 1/2 c. of broth next time. Otherwise, flawless. THANK YOU for a fabulous, 5 star recipe.

Modenese Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2010
The best kind of recipe: simple, well-edited "real" ingredients perfectly paired for amazing flavor... I wouldn't change a thing except to leave out the salt. I added sliced mushrooms, as some reviewers suggested, which turned out to give the light-bodied sauce something to cling to.

Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
Delicious & healthy alternative to deep-fried fish tacos. Like other reviewers, i'd say go easy on the heat in the dressing (omit adobo sauce and add just a pinch of chili powder, or leave it out entirely and use dill weed instead). I think having a "cooling" dressing is a nice contrast to the amazingly good - and spicy - grilled fish. Also, Southwestern Cabbage Salad (on this site) makes a great garnish and side to this recipe. Thanks!

Spicy Southwestern Slaw

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2008
Super easy and delicious way to get more veggies. I'd go with a little less oil and a little more vinegar in dressing. Excellent as garnish for the "Grilled Fish Tacos with Chipotle-Lime Dressing" recipe on this site. This will be in regular rotation at my house!

Vegan Lemon Poppy Scones

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2008
What a nice treat. I love the combination of lemon and poppyseeds. I was surprised by how much they spread in the oven, despite my omission of the 1/2 c. water. I think I'll try these again with a touch more flour, less milk, 3t. baking powder instead of 4t., and parchment paper instead of greasing the pan. Thanks for the lovely recipe!

Italian Kale

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
This simple recipe makes getting a not-so-popular veggie on the table easy. Very flavorful (the vinegar is a perfect complement to the earthy kale)and went great with my dinner of pork chops in mushroom sauce and red mashed potatoes. Per other reviews, it was helpful to know that you should trim the leaves completely from their stem, chop the leaves, and add a bit of water to the pan in first stage of wilting.

Sloppy Joe Sandwiches

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
Very tasty, will definitely make again, but I want to try replacing the ketchup with crushed fire-roasted tomatoes or tomato paste (for less sugar and additives). Based on other reviews, I added 1 t. white vinegar and 1 t. chili powder. Quite delicious!

Spaghetti Squash I

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2008
10 minutes into dinner we were still talking about how crazy good this recipe is. We decided it was "stupifyingly good". It's so simple but the flavors blend perfectly and the textures make you go back for thirds. We added asparagus and chopped kale--highly recommended. SOOO GOOOD!
