About this Cook
I have a diverse background. My mother is Puerto Rican and my father is German. I was born over seas and then raised in the Midwest. So I grew up being used to a very different food palate. My love of travel is still alive and thriving. My husband and I travel often and to new places each time. I'm an artist. I love to sculpt, paint and draw. I also love food and to cook!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I especially love to make homemade cheesecakes and dessert breads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up on a lot of Puerto Rican food. Some of the things I grew up eating are carne guisada, pasteles, Arroz con Gandules and Pernil.
My cooking triumphs
Homemade spice pumpkin bread. No cans allowed. It was a lot of work preparing the pumpkin. But it was worth it!
My cooking tragedies
I’m still trying to recreate my great grandmother's recipe for coconut rice pudding. There are a lot of recipes out there. The challenge is to match it to my mother's memory. First time I made it was like a rock. Each year I'm a little bit closer. Now my family enjoys it.

Almond Cookies I
This recipe is a good start! I followed the suggestions by increasing the amount of crushed almonds, added a tablespoon of the amaretto instead of the 2teaspoons, I also added a tablespoon of shortening to soften the dough. Then I doubled the recipe and baked them at 350F. I was going to share the cookies with the neighbors, but I think my husband will consume them all before that.

Cabbage Beef Soup
This should be renamed to Cabbage Beef 'Stew'. This hardy meal is perfect on cold days and will fill you up. Made it for the first time last night. I was worried it would be too salty with the 4 bouillon cubes and the added salt. It came out great and has a lot of fans. I wouldn't change a thing!

Stuffed Green Peppers I
Delicious, the tomatoes soup 'gravy' was a nice touch. :-)
