I have a diverse background. My mother is Puerto Rican and my father is German. I was born over seas and then raised in the Midwest. So I grew up being used to a very different food palate.
My love of travel is still alive and thriving. My husband and I travel often and to new places each time. I'm an artist. I love to sculpt, paint and draw. I also love food and to cook!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake. I especially love to make homemade cheesecakes and dessert breads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up on a lot of Puerto Rican food. Some of the things I grew up eating are carne guisada, pasteles, Arroz con Gandules and Pernil.
My cooking triumphs
Homemade spice pumpkin bread. No cans allowed. It was a lot of work preparing the pumpkin. But it was worth it!
My cooking tragedies
I’m still trying to recreate my great grandmother's recipe for coconut rice pudding. There are a lot of recipes out there. The challenge is to match it to my mother's memory. First time I made it was like a rock. Each year I'm a little bit closer. Now my family enjoys it.
