I am a mother of 4 boys and currently expecting a girl. I have recently transitioned from being a soldier-mom to a stay-at-home and finish college
mom. I love to cook to relax sometimes, and sometimes I have to cook quick fast and in a hurry. I find that I learn something new and interesting the more I "experiment" with recipies and cooking. I usually tend to spice things up a bit on my own, i.e.> I like to modify the basics into what I tihnk could be a master peice. However, sometimes that back fires! But hey thats why I signed up for this site for the tips and the recipies so that I can learn how to make the most of my "jazzed up creations".
My favorite things to cook
wow, Im not sure. I always love to the newest thing I creat that actually ends up edible and taste great. We have to many children to be eating out so I guess I'd have to say I love to cook what is like going to nice resturant but 10 times better.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am always the official "yams" expert at T-day, Not to mention a couple of other things. I also inherited a great deal of southern influenced cuizine from my mothers side of the family. I also inherited a scot-irish tradition from my fathers side (I'm the third generation born into that side)
My cooking triumphs
I cant even remember them all. The most memorable was my first ever. I made a apple-walnut bread as a young girl (9) that was to die for. I think once I hit those teen age years I stopped making it. I dont remember the recipe, just know that it was really good. Oh well hormones took over for a while.
My cooking tragedies
That started also a a young child I was maybe 6 and I thought it would somehow be a great idea to combine eggs, milk, and hershey choc. milk syrup and place it in the microwave for a good amount of time. My father was supposed to be watching me but the original Nintendo had just come out so he was too hooked on the legend of zelda to notice the mess I made. When I went to take it out of the mic. my mom and her friend had just walked in, as I was taking the boiling pot of "WHAT THE F*&!" (as my mother called it) I poured it all over my self and my mothers friend quickly jerked the shirt I was wearing off to keep me from scalding and more that I already had. Just a couple of blisters, but hey it coulda been worse. The bad part was my mothers reaction to her kitchen disaster.
