Easy Frozen Margaritas

Reviewed: May 25, 2009
This simple recipe is almost exactly the recipe that i've used for years. Except we add 2 packets of Sweet & Low to tone down the tartness of the limeade. Also, try and use a quality tequila as this will make a huge difference in the taste.

Honey Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
The 4 star rating is for the actual recipe as posted. The taste is fantastic, but it was just too crumbly for me. So fiddled with the recipe some to get it bind better. I recommend doubling the amount of egg. This really helped hold the cornbread together for me. Now its 5 stars!!

Mrs. Baxton's Long Island Iced Tea

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2009
Getting a decent Long Island at a bar or restaurant is very hit and miss. THIS is how all Teas should be made. Hands down the best i've ever had. I don't change a thing...but I don't necessarily use the gold tequila and it's still great. Thanks Kevin for sharing.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: May 8, 2012
Thanks Jason, you just put a big dent in the frozen pizza sales. I'll never buy a frozen pizza again. The only thing i do differently is... I usually mix this in the dough cycle in my bread maker. The dough was coming out a little bit too wet for me so i use about 1/3 cups more flour. other then that it's just great!!!

This was the absolute best i've ever had. I was raised in south central Louisiana, so i've had my share of jambalaya. this one will definitely be in my rotation.

Country Green Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2011
This is a wonderful recipe just as it is!! You may want to try substituting bacon for the ham and chicken broth for the 1/4 cup of water. Those changes pushed it to 5 stars for me. This is one of my favorite side dishes.

Italian Bread Using a Bread Machine

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2010
Best bread i've ever made. Such a simple recipe with fantastic results. i've had my bread maker for years and used it rarely. Now i'm making one loaf after another. i'm having a little trouble keeping the bread from not flatting out while rising. It's still great though.

Candy Cane Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
This recipe is verbatim from the old Betty Crocker cook book. The presentation of this cookie was always better then the taste. IMO

Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2011
i rated this recipe as written and it was very good. Then the next batch i used (Lexi, Jack and Cookie's) version 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 brown sugar and 1/4 teas. of cinnamon. i tasted then both side by side and their version is 5 stars! it just seemed to have a more complex taste.

Chicken Tortilla Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2008
Since moved far away from my favorite Mexican food restaurant that served great tortilla soup. I was forced to try and make my own. This recipe is even better then the restaurants. This is now one of my staple recipes. I add about a teaspoon of liquid smoke to give the soup a smoked chicken taste. Since the soup did turn out a bit thick for me, i added an extra can of chicken broth.

Aunt Ro's Baked Beans

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2012
I wasn't impressed at first when i put everything in the crockpot and gave it a quick taste. But after cooking the flavors together for 4 hours, it all came together. Very good beans. I'll be making these again.

Roasted Cajun Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2009
These are great. I make them routinely now. My only change is that i backed down the cayenne to 1/4 teaspoon as they were a little too hot for me. I like spice, but it was a little too much.

Crawfish Potato Soup

Reviewed: May 1, 2013
Like another reviewer said, I added cajun seasoning to taste. It was fantastic. This will definitely be in my soup rotation form now on. i liked that the soup was thin like a soup and not thick like a chowder or bisque. i may try to add some corn starch to see i like it even better.

These are the best burgers i've ever grilled. I was pretty proud of my former recipe, but this is what i'll use from now on. Thank you Jan!

House Fried Rice

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2012
My main problem for with this recipe was the overpowering taste of the sesame oil. It overtook all the other flavors. I may back it down to half (or less) and then mix in vegetable oil. I also used some of the other reviewers tips on using cold rice. Very good recipe just needs a couple of tweaks.
