Holiday Cranberry Chutney

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2008
Absolutely delicious. It also keeps for a long time, so I used it both for an early Christmas party and Thanksgiving.

Strawberry Cinnamon Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
These were really excellent. I did the same as many and made half of the flour whole wheat, substituted 1 T of white flour with 1 T of soy flour (for some good protien), doubled the cinnamon, added 1 t of nutmeg, 2 tsp mexican vanilla, used half again as many strawberries, and used applesauce instead of oil. These were a great way for me to impress my boss for his birthday!

Orange Cardamom Krumkake

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
I would have rated this a 3, but my husband couldn't stop eating them, and my coworkers really enjoyed them. Not to mention I'm sure this is a much more interesting flavor than the original Krumkake. It was a bit heavy on the orange and cardamom, I'd suggest reducing those amounts if you don't want the flavors too strong.

Jo's Rosemary Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
No wonder this is a 5-star recipe, it's BETTER than the bread from Macaroni Grill! Like someone else suggested, I brushed the tops with egg beater's and sprinkled with sea salt. It totally looked professional :).

Roast Duck with Apple Dressing

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
This recipe is absurdly good. I did this for my first Christmas party and everyone asked for the recipe. Even picky eaters loved this. Be prepared that it will make a lot of drippings, so if you want, you can also make some gravy to go with everything, though it's definitely tender enough to not need any!

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
Nice and easy but takes a while. Instead of dried rosemary, we used fresh rosemary and sage, and for 2.5 pounds, it only needed an hour and a half to cook. We also browned the whole outside first, and poured ~1/2 cup of wine in to the skillet while it was in the oven to add some extra flavor.

Vintage Lemonade

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
A delicious lemonade! I'll give this recipe only 4 stars because though it's probably the best lemonade out there, it's still just lemonade. I about halved the amount of sugar, and added some extra water for my taste.

Vanilla Bean Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 1, 2010
I'm giving this 4 stars only because I changed so many things about it. The main part is that I used 1/2 mascarpone and 1/2 cream cheese. Also, if you're going to bother using real vanilla beans, don't throw vanilla extract in there (which is likely not that high quality anyway), just use about 5 vanilla beans, and you're fine. And if you actually want to TASTE the cheesiness, then use 1/2 the sugar recommended. Using 1/2 & 1/2 instead of heavy cream also doesn't take a way from the flavor, and keeps the flavor lighter.

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
Maybe it was the homegrown organic squash I used, or the homemade goose broth, but this was AMAZING. The squash never really browned in the oven even though I left it in there twice as long, and it's not as thick as the recipe says, but it is phenomenally delicious. The cinnamon really adds that extra zing to the sweet squash.
