Black and White Cookies I
Lovely! Brought them to a get together, and everyone was raving! I just made 2 replacements. I replaced the lemon essence with the zest of one lemon (had a good lemon flavor, put less in if you don't want to feel the lemon) I replaced the cake flour with regular flour, substituting 2 tablespoons of each cup of flour for 2 tablespoons corn starch. I was worried about the result, since I didn't have a beater and just mixed everything with a potato smasher, and then when I added the liquid to the butter/sugar, it looked all chunky!!!! But, when I added in the flour it mixed in well. No problems. I definitely will be making these again. Who knew they were so simple?

Creamy Potato Leek Soup II
Great base recipe! I had different ingredients laying around so I used it more as a guideline. I also halved the recipe. I used the following ingredients: 2 cups beef broth 2 cups water 4 baking potatoes 1/2 lb turkey bacon 3 tbs. veg oil (for cooking turkey bacon faster) 1 tbs. butter (for sauteeing leek and onion) 1 leek 1/4 a white onion 1/2 cup heavy cream I sauteed the onion with the leeks, and added the water to the broth and just cooked it higher so that the potatoes had enough water to cook in, but so the soup wasn't so liquidy. So, I basically used the same recipe, just different ingredients. :) Kaiser rolls made a great side bread for dipping!
