Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2013
A little too good, and a little too easy! I only used 1/2 cup butter (margarine), and they turned out great.

Asian Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2013
Would have been five starts, but way too much fat. I wish I had read the other reviews first and toasted the crunchy stuff without butter and cut way back on the oil. As it was, I only added about half of the sauce, because all of it would have been way too much. I'll definitely try this again, though, with less fat, because it was delicious.

Thai Curry Soup

Didn't have lemon grass, so skipped it. Used chicken instead of shrimp. Skipped mushrooms, spinach, and green onions because I didn't have them. Still absolutely wonderful!

Mayo Free Cabbage Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2012
This is an excellent dressing for a slaw!! We omitted the sunflower seeds (preference) and used half cabbage and half shredded kale from our garden. Wow...I'm sure this will be a new favorite. I think it would also be excellent with cranberries or a tart apple.

Fabulous Fargozas

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2012
We loved the intense rosemary flavor. These made the house smell wonderful! I substituted half whole wheat flour, cheddar instead of mozzarella, and reduced the sugar by 1Tbs. They were plenty golden at 19 minutes when I pulled them out. I think they would have been overdone had they gone longer. I will definitely be making these again.

Strange combination of sweet and oniony-- not a big hit with my family.

Harvest Pork Stew

A potentially good stew ruined by the inclusion of apple, in my opinion. Strange combination of tastes.

Ben Lippen School Coffee Cake (Mrs. Hathaway's recipe)

Yummy and mild. Kids loved it. I used brown sugar for the topping instead of white and reduced the amount of butter to 1 T. to make it less gloppy.

Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

I didn't have 11 hours, so I cooked it on high for 4 hours and then turned it to low until dinner time (2-3 more hours), and it worked great.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
These have become a regular breakfast favorite at our house. We use whole wheat flour and substitute half the oil with applesauce, and they still taste great! We also cook them at a slightly lower temperature, 375, which seems to work better in our oven.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2010
Too sweet. Tastes like something you would get at Costco or 7-11. I was wanting more of a home-made taste. We did use huckleberries instead of blueberries which worked well. Later- we would give it a 4 this time. It only needs about half the topping.

Polish Cabbage Noodles

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2009
Surprisingly yummy for such a simple dish! Based on others' reviews, I omitted the onion, added a little bit of sugar and chicken bullion to the cabbage as it cooked, and sautéed it with the noodles briefly at the end. I even used about half red cabbage and it came out mild and great! I'll be making this again.

Budget Berry Jam

This really works, and it's delicious. The tomatoes I used the second time were probably 2/3 of the way ripe, and it still worked great! I will use this recipe for my green tomatoes for years to come!
