About this Cook
I am a stay at home mom. I used to work in the nursing field mostly with the mentally challenged and mentally ill. I use cooking as a stress doesn't always help but it will at least get my mind off what is really bothering me. I have always loved to cook but did spend a couple years when I was first married without a very wide variety of things I could actually cook without burning. Through trial and error and the love of a man who went to culinary school there is now nothing that I will not try to make, usually thank goodness with success.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking mostly. I usually stick more toward desserts when baking but I am starting to branch out more with making more breads.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My daddy was from the south and highly believed that gravy was a food group so that was the first thing us kids were taught to make. This has been continued with our kids. Also I came from a huge family on both of my parents sides which meant multiple meals with different traditions at the holidays. We now live too far from my other remaining relatives to have the same traditions of family house hopping for multiple meals so I have taken to starting our own tradition....inviting lots of people with me cooking all of the wonderful traditional foods I was taught to make for the holidays by my grandmothers. I also add some of the traditional fare that my husband had growing up while he was in Germany. It makes for a very eclectic array of food.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust
The best quick homemade pizza dough I have ever had. Not overly thick and doughy but not crispy and thin either, just that perfect in between. I made this tonight and the whole family was raving about the dough. Only changes I made was I added just a smidge of garlic and herb seasoning, but even with that added this pizza dough recipe shines right through to show it would do just as well even without the added seasoning.

Easy Mexican Casserole
Made this last night for dinner. Hands down a keeper, everyone raved about it. I did make some changes...omitted salsa just used Rotel tomatoes in with hamburger and added my fave taco seasoning and used Nacho cheese flavored chips instead of plain tortilla chips. I also doubled the hamburger and used black beans instead of what recipe called for just out of preference. This was very easy and quick to put together. Highly recommend
