I have been cooking in different restaurants now for five years. I really enjoy moving around to new places and learning more about how to do what I do, BETTER! I love learning new recipies and seeing them work from my own hands, but what is better, is having other people really enjoy them too. I'll try to post some things I've learned along the way, but I don't know when I'll be able to.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy a 'Surf N Turf' style more than anything. Grilled steak and sauteed shrimp with crab legs steamed in a butter/herb mix is a favorite of mine.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother cooked at restaurants for awhile, but my father has never been in what I like to call, 'A Real Kitchen'. Although they are both great, my grandparents are, by far, the best around. (matter of opinion) My family has always been big on Minnesota Walleye because it is simply, 'The Best Fish Around', (matter of opinion). There are many different ways to cook it however and I'm hoping to get to that.
My cooking triumphs
I can go to most kitchens in my area of VA and get any cooking job I wish with the exp. I've had. Most recently, I joined the T.G.I.Fridays team but am unable to give out 'Trade Secrets' as they say. However, my interpretation of some recipies will, undoubtfully, be different in ways that are my own. I've had 'Fine Dining' jobs that would never hold a candle to the so called, 'Glorified Fast Food' of Fridays. It is a new and pleasant experience for me.
My cooking tragedies
I once used brown sugar in an Irish creme I was making and completly ruined the chicken I was preparing, but oh well. Win some, lose some, that's just the way it is sometimes.
