About this Cook
About a year ago, I decided to take charge of my life and lose some weight. I joined a gym that offered nutrition counciling. I learned how I should be eating, rather than the way I had been. I had never been one to like to cook before. Spaghetti and grilled cheese sandwhiches were my specialty, which unfortunatly did not accomadate the new health plan I was trying to find. I started cooking with herbs and spices instead of salt and butter. The gym I belonged to were very helpful in supplying me different kinds of recipes in order to cook this way. As of late, I've been experimenting with my own recipes. Some have been successful, and some have failed. I want to break outside the box that I've been cooking in. I don't really have a family who can teach me to break out of this box because they only way they know to cook is by using fatty flavorings. Lastnight, after realizing I had so many carrots, I decided to use them up by making a cream of carrot soup. Having no idea how t
My favorite things to cook
I'm up to try anything. I like to keep it healthy as much as possible. I'm interested in soups and slow cooker recipes because I'm so busy. I cook a lot of chicken and fish and am interested in making more exciting dishes with them. I have never tried any ethnic food, but would be interested in learning.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My favorite dishes my mom and dad made growing up were angel chicken, German meatballs, German meatloaf, and macaroni and cheese (my mom's recipe).
My cooking triumphs
I couldn't think of anything, so I asked my boyfriend what his favorite dish was that I've made so far. He said it was the curry chicken I made. All I did was put curry on some chicken, put it in a pan with olive oil and threw it in the oven. It wasn't real inventive and I actually thought I put too much curry on...I have a lot to learn
My cooking tragedies
I tried to season my brussel sprouts and cauliflower with dill weed and was a little over powering.

Herbed Chicken Nuggets
These were delicious! The only difference I made was that I used olive oli instead of vegtable. I usually have to dip my chicken nuggets in ranch or honey mustard, but not this time! This one's a keeper.

Egg Drop Soup I
I wanted something fast and easy to make with the limited food items I have in my fridge (I need to go grocery shopping). I pulled out my eggs, originally thinking of making an omelette, but then I got a hankering for egg drop soup, so I looked it up. I'm impressed! I used low sodium boullions and I didn't have any corn start, so I used a little bit of wheat flour. I also threw some spinach in the pot. I don't know how authentic it is to add spinach to egg drop soup, but it left my tummy full and my taste buds happy.
