I started learning to cook at age 5. My grandma and Aunts taught me to cook. Mom being the baby of the family never really cooked until she got married. I am a wife and mother of 2. My daughter is learning to cook like I did, by doing it.
My favorite things to cook
I cook alot of Depression Era meals...you know the ones where a little goes along way and fills you up. My family loves it. We try not to make any meals from pre-made mixes...we call that cheater cooking. I am also always on the look out for new recipes. My daughter and I have even invented a couple here and there.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Italian food..why? Because I was raised in an Italian family, why else. I do sometimes make mexican and chinese too.
My cooking triumphs
My biggest triumph was with Grandma's Gnocchi. My Aunt said mine were better than hers, and that's a huge compliment to me. My better than Shake-n-bake oven fried chicken and chicken crumpets ala Suzie
My cooking tragedies
My mom's brownies. She makes the most awesome brownies, with marshmallows on top and chocolate frosting. The brownies come out great, but I CAN'T GET THEM OUT OF THE PAN. No clue why.
