My cooking tragedies
Even though I had been cooking for over 10 years at the time, I burnt the very first dinner I made for my husband after we were married. It was so bad I had to open windows and crack open the door to stop the fire alarm in our apartment! He came home to my cat sticking his nose out the cracked front door trying to breathe fresh air!

Tex-Mex Corn Chowder
Excellent! I followed the recipe pretty closely. I only used 1 cup of salsa, because that was all I had left, and the flavor was great! I used light cream cheese, which blended in just fine. I also added a larger can of canned chicken, which seemed to be a good amount. Love having this quick and easy recipe on hand now!

Tasty Roasted Beets
Yummy! Got some beets in a CSA and didn't know what to do with them. This was so simple and converted a whole family who had never had/didn't like beets. We just quartered them, because ours were so small. The MAIN thing is that we LEFT THE SKINS ON.... and they were GOOD! The skin added a crunchy texture; it was a lot like a potato skin. I will definitely keep doing them this way. I might experiment with the seasonings just for fun, but the thyme + sea salt was very good.

Slow Cooker Butter Chicken
I followed the recipe as is, and it was bland. It didn't have a lot of flavor or spice. The overriding flavor was tomato. I tried to add extra curry paste towards the end once I knew it wasn't turing out as I had hoped, but that didn't save it. I was hoping for something more restaurant quality, and this wasn't it. This wasn't even a good base recipe, because there wasn't even enough flavor to build on. I'm going to keep searching for a better recipe.
