About this Cook
I learned to cook when I was about 7 - 8 years old. My mom taught me by her method which was just adding without measuring. It makes it harder to write an accurate recipe, but I try the best I can. I only had 1 child but did a lot of cooking for him over the years as well as lots of relatives.
My favorite things to cook
I usually prefer just plain old down home cooking. But I do enjoy cooking loads of new things too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My ancestry is German, but my parents were born in Russia which had a HUGE influence on Mom's cooking. Those are some of my favorite foods. Good comfort foods too.
My cooking triumphs
I took classes in cake decorating and while I don't do it so much now as I used to, I love creating something that looks beautiful as well as tasting fabulous. I have made many wedding cakes, but my favorite was for my nieces wedding. It had lots of big yellow icing roses and a fountain in it.
My cooking tragedies
Too many to count. I think we have all had some of these. One is when I was making a wedding cake and my table was not the most stable. Needless to say, it got bumped and the top tier fell taking most of the second tier with it and a small portion of the bottom too. Barely got it to the wedding on time.

Grilled Bacon-Wrapped Corn on the Cob
I read the reviews beforehand so I precooked bacon about halfway and then wrapped it around the corn. It finished cooking while the corn was cooking and turned out great! I did add garlic butter to corn before wrapping for even more taste. I will make this all the time now. I did take the bacon from the corn because it didn't stay on, and placed it on my burger. I still flavored the corn.

Joseph's Best Easy Bacon Recipe
I will never cook bacon any other way. Thanks Joseph for the wonderful new way. I set my oven to 375° since it bakes a little hot and I also used regular sliced bacon.

Savory Bubble Bread
This bread is amazing. It is so simple to make. So many people complained that it is so sticky after coming out of the bread machine. This is normal for machine made bread. Just add a little more flour and knead it in. I used 4 fresh minced garlic because we really like garlic. It is a regular in my files. Thanks for the wonderful recipe.
