Garlic Spinach Soup

Reviewed: May 5, 2012
Awesome! The broth is sooo flavorful! I add thinly sliced carrots, few shakes of soy sauce, and an extra cup of broth. Next time, I will add 2 extra cups of broth. Thank you for this delicious and healthy recipe!

Warm Crab Parmesan Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
This dish was absolutely delicious! Not for those who dislike seafood. I increased the crab amount and added seasoning to achieve the perfect flavor. Several people tasted it before I baked it and liked it better cold. Very rich, you can only handle a few bits.

Yellow Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
I absolutely love squash and this recipe is AWESOME! I especially love any recipe that taste good and can be made healthy. Most squash casseroles call for too much butter and cheese...can't keep my weight in-check with those. I followed directions and will make over and over and over again! Thanks so much!!

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Dec. 18, 2011
After making these, I now love sweet potatoes!! They were quickly gone at our Thanksgiving dinner. I can't wait to make these again for Christmas dinner. I reduced the white sugar slightly (1/3 cup) and used 7 potatoes. They were still sweet and perfect with the brown sugar topping.I plan to increase the pecans and topping next time. I'm going to use glazed pecans...yum!

The Best Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
After reading reviews that said the sauce was more sweet than sour, I decided to reduced the brown sugar to 1/2 cup, substituted 1/4 cup of water for pineapple juice and added about 2 tbls of ketchup. It had just the right amount of sweetness. My 4 kids (13,11,9,6) usually don't like new recipes and can be very picky...but they ALL ate their meatballs up quickly and said they were a thumbs yummy! I agree! Thanks!

Crunch Bar

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2011
Yummy! I stuck with the original amounts of butter and brown sugar called for, because my pan could only fit 1 sleeve of crackers. My crackers were covered perfectly! If your pan requires you to use 1.5 sleeves or 2 sleeves of crackers, then it only makes sense to increase butter & sugar amounts as suggested by other reviewers. I boiled my buttery sugar mix for a full 3 min, until it was nice and thick. It set up quickly. I put my pan in the freezer to speed the process and used foil with non-stick spray. The bars came out easily. Everyone LOVED these buttery crisp bars! They are absolutely joining my cookie/bar tray and would make a great holiday gift for neighbors, friends or work!!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2009
I have tried several Banana bread/muffin recipes on this site and ALWAYS find myself coming back to this one. I usually make 18 muffins bake at 350 for 20-25 minutes. Test w/toothpick to check if they done, should come out mostly clean. I use 1 cup wheat & 1 cup white fl and use 1/4 cup butter (1/2 stick) and 1/2 cup of applesauce to make them healthier. But, they are wonderful as is! I add some pecans and mini semi-sweet choc chips (3/4 cup or less). They are small and spread through the mixture just right, so every bite has a little bit of chocolate. Thanks for this wonderful recipe!

Slow Cooker Creamed Corn

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
I wanted to save time and use less dishes, so I put all the ingredients into the crock pot instead of heating them separately on the stove. I cooked the corn on high for about 2 hrs before checking. At first I was worried, because the cream cheese was still in chunks. I gave it a good stir and let it cook for another 15 min, and the cheese blended in perfectly. I added 1 tsp salt & 1/2 tsp pepper & used a 1/3 less fat cream cheese. I LOVED the taste, but my 4 kids did not! It is very rich with all the butter & cream cheese. UPDATE: I made this again on the stove top and used 1/2 less cream cheese and added about 1/4 cup whipping cream - didn't measure just eye-balled amounts. Result was very smooth & creamy corn with less of a cream cheese flavor. My kids liked it better this time.

Gourmet Pretzel Rods

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2010
Super Easy + Delicious = 5 STARS!! The caramel layer sets them apart from your normal dipped pretzels. I used both white chocolate and vanilla almond bark. I preferred the white chocolate version. I let the caramel dry before dipping in chocolate layer. Make sure to spray oil on your wax paper to prevent the caramel from sticking to it while hardening.

Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2010
Yummy! I did not have hoisin sauce, so I used mixture suggested in reviews by CAROLC80. I used 2 lbs of round steak and cooked on low for 3 hrs. My kids don't like onions, so I liked the idea that they disappeared into the sauce if cooked for the full time with the meat...it worked! I cut the sugar to 1/4 cup and it was still a little too sweet. The soy sauce was a little over powering, but that might have been due to my homemade hoisin sauce. I also coated meat with flour and tossed into crock without browning. I will make again with less soy sauce and sugar. Thanks!!

Spinach Quiche

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
Delicious!! I made with plain feta (don't like Italian seasons), added a tad of nutmeg (advice from Rachael Ray) and omitted mushrooms. I used a 9.5" deep dish pan and it all fit perfectly. My family loved this! I will make again and again, Thanks!

MMMMM... Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2010
Needed a recipe w/o oil and this one was perfect. I layered carmel & pecans in the center - from another recipe on this site. They were chewy & gewy and gone in minutes. My family & relatives said they were the best!

Honey Baked Chicken II

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2009
Oh my gosh! I absolutely loved this and so did my 4 kids. I did take the suggestion of others and used only half the amount of butter, next time I will use even less. I didn't have curry, so I used a near substitution of a mixture of spices. This is a keeper, Thanks!

Golden Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2009
I have been making this dish for past 5 yrs from a Taste of Home magazine. Everyone loves it, especially with ham! The sauce has a wonderful rich flavor...I'm a fan of sour cream. The potatoes are not floating in sauce, so make extra if you like yours on the creamy side. I cut down on the butter and occasionally skip on making the topping with equally good results. TIP - Make sure your potatoes are completely thawed and bake for the full hour or your potatoes will not cook thoroughly.

Cola Pot Roast II

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2011
Impressive! My crock-pot died on me, so I was forced to use my oven and I'm so glad I did. The roast was super tender...perfect. I can't wait to make for company. I used what I had on hand, cream of celery, mushroom gravy mix, and Dr.Pepper. I didn't notice a sweet taste and neither did my kids. Everything was so flavorful!

Gingerbread Boys

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2010
Soft and chewy...couldn't eat eat them fast enough! I substituted molasses for corn syrup, and made one batch with orange zest and one batch without. Big difference in taste! I liked both, but feel omitting the orange zest leaves you with a more traditional gingerbread flavor. Rolling the dough out was a pain even with wax paper. I found it easier to flatten the dough with my hands after dividing into about 4 parts. My daughter loved helping decorate them. Thanks!!

Honey-Garlic Angel Hair

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2011
Different, but delicious! You can definitely taste the sweetness, so do not try this if you aren't a sugar bug :o) I love this recipe and so does my teenage daughter, but my younger children do not. I add extra Parmesan cheese and think it pairs well with chicken and green beans.
